:rofl pavlik-slappy was the real fight everyone wanted to see including you so i dont wanna hear that ****! i remember clearly on esb the day fans dreaded the announcement for jones-slappy. -how many ppv buys did they do again?
All time great status is not only a matter of winning H2H and P4P skill. It's also a matter of resume and achievements. And while Joe has a unbeaten resume, the best you could say is that it is good with only 2 past prime HoF fighters in it. Ok, first of all, what's Joe's record? 46-0? Granted that SRR ended his streak at 40, but he lost to another HOf fighter in the raging bull who was something like 15 lbs heavier than SRR, after which he kept on winning to a record of 128-1. Seriously, the main reason why SRR is often considered #1 ATG is because no one will ever come close to that record. And what kind of analysis is "out work with superior stamina?" Seriously, if you're going to make a case for Joe, you should at least come up with a better analysis of styles. Saying that Joe will "outwork with superior stamina" is assuming that SRR would just stand there, not fire back and just take the punishment. Yes the greatest lightweight at all time. So why did you base you analysis on a middleweight fight? If you're going to make a H2H, P4P analysis, shouldn't you match them up based on skills AND assuming that they were equal in size? You're saying that Joe would beat Duran for the same reason as Hearns, you know what that reason is? Hearns was bigger than Duran and Duran was fighting way above his optimum weight. Superior reach and height advantage? Again, if you're going to make a P4P argument, it should be based on skill and the assumption that they will be of the same size. You're saying "Joe would beat Sugar IF Joe had that same reach and height advantages of Hearns" Unless of course you've done your math and can prove that if you scale Joe's size down proportionally to lightweight (for the Duran fight) and WW (for the SRL fight) that Joe would still be bigger. In which case, show us the math.
Your right, I would rather have seen Pavlik than Jones. But when Calzaghe would have beat him, would he not just be classed as an overrated fighter like Lacy is classed as? There just is no winning either way...
man, you really are a child. of course i appreciate that, i was there. it was a great performance by margarito, but cotto ruined him with the earlier power punches he caught him with. we will never see margo the same again.
