Just seen on Boxrec that Fury is fighting Aleksanders Selkens on Saturday 3 6 0.Fairly pointless fight, never been stopped so might be able to last a few rounds but another easy win for Fury.
At this stage in his career I wouldn't have thought any fight for Fury is pointless. More ring time the better.
Good point chrisc, was hoping he would have more of a test, but with the Mcdermott fight in september, its OK for a tune up.I don't thinks its easy getting Fury opponents at the moment.
i'm not bothered about the quality of his opponents at the moment, at this stage there are certain things you look for in a young fighter and fury ticks a lot of boxes, i like what i see, he behaves like a fighter, doesn't get flustered, good fundamentals and when was the last time you saw a heavyweight put 6 piece combinations together like that he needs to work on not pulling back in a straight line when going away from punches, he does little amateurish things, he hasn't got good anticipation and looks slightly clumsy as a result, but thats all things that could be worked on and improved immeasurably, i also think his mental maturity and fortitude is well ahead of his physical development its too early to judge how far he'll go
Yeah, I agree. Also you have to remember that the more fights Fury has under his belt, the faster he gets to fight for the British title too, as I've never really known the BBBC to let a fighter fight for the title who had under twelve fights before.
good post he certainly looks the part, but his chin hasn't been really tested. Think he will be too much for McDermott, although Little Legs must fancy it for his man to have won the purse bids
1. He can only fight, who will fight him, given the fact he needs to fight regular to build up a record and learn the game, and that he is being ducked domestically; 2. He needs to prove to me that he can fight on the backfoot, fight on the inside and that he has a chin before I decide how far he goes in the game. 3. I have doubts about his footwork in general, but this cannot be proven until he fights better quality. Seen all of his fights and he is the most promising British HW on the scene at the moment, beyond Haye of course, who is on the verge of a HW title shot.
