Still waiting on spikes and robbie longs opponent to sign contracts before they advertise them on boxrec yet....... But Robbies opponent looks quite good so he will have his hands full
What about Timlin?Robbie is good enough to step up a bit,do i take it from what you wrote that Spikes opponent isnt great.
Appartently, there is 2 possible opponents for spike but im not sure what their records are and declan timlin has a couple of opponents in mind but all waiting on contracts to come back, But Robbie seems to be in good form and asked for a fella who will test him a bit more
Yeah it would be nice to see spike given a sterner test even a durable opponent that will bring him the distance something that will develop his talents more,I dont think its his fault though Collins picks his opponents so blame must land with him. On the same lines fair play to Robbie Long for wanting to step up. :good
lads been away for a while , whats the latest on dunne? Its getting very hard to apreciate all peters has done if he doesnt get his arse in gear now , also maybe look at running shows for a change
I would love to be going to this but Im out of the country, will they be putting the footage online afterwards and if so where can it found? Cheers!
Egan books place in senior final Saturday, 11 July 2009 22:51 Nine-times Irish senior champion Ken Egan booked his place in next Friday's Open Senior Competition light heavyweight final after chalking up a 12-1 win over Denis Hogan at the National Stadium in Dublin tonight. Egan, a silver medal winner at the 29th Olympiad in Beijing, forced Hogan into two standing counts in the second -two body shots doing the damage - and was 8-1 up going into the final round. The Neilstown clubman dominated the third also, picking off another four shots to seal a solid win. Meanwhile, AIBA World Youth champion Ray Moylette and Eric Donovan were involved in a top class lightweight contest, Donovan weathering the early storm to turn an 4-3 first round deficit into an 8-6 advantage going into the last frame. Moylette pulled back to within one point in the final minute only for Donovan to add three points to his tally going into the final 15 seconds - victory looked assured. However, the St Michael's Athy man then ceded two points after getting a public warning for dropping his head - but Moylette was unable to find the punch to take the bout to a count-back. European bronze medalist Ross Hickey meantime, stopped Robert Gorman in round two and Adam Nolan booked his ticket into the 69Kg final following his 7-0 win over Graham Hogan. Nolan will meet 2007 EU champion Roy Sheahan in next weekends 69Kg decider after the St Michael's Athy man stopped Thomas Blaney in round three. David Joyce made it a St Michael's Athy treble on the night following a 9-3 verdict over the hard working Jimmy Sweeney. Joyce will face Stephen O'Reilly next Friday night after the Donegal middleweight posted an impressive 5-1 win over Luke Keeler. European Union and Irish heavyweight champion Con Sheehan won the final bout of the evening after being handed a 9-0 decision over Danny Tourish. Earlier today, European Union featherweight champion David Oliver Joyce and Irish flyweight champion Declan Geraghty bowed out. Geraghty was beaten 14-11 by Ruairi Dalton of the Holy Trinity club in Belfast, Dalton taking having his hand raised in victory from a see saw battle that was level four times. Meanwhile, Illies GG ace Tyrone McCullagh added to his growing reputation with a 7-5 win over Joyce, of the St Michael's Athy club. Both boxers took standing counts and received public warnings in this encounter. 'It was a tough fight. David was coming back very strong in the final round. I knew he was a strong finisher and I had to maintain my concentration until the end,' said the Illies Golden Gloves man immediately after the bout. Meantime, John Joe Joyce and Philip Sutcliffe will meet in a repeat of February's senior final after both boxers won their semi finals today. Sutcliffe sensationally stopped Joyce in the first round in the 2009 senior final - twelve months after Joyce stopped Sutcliffe on the 20 point rule in the 2008 senior semi-final. There were wins also for former Irish senior champions Conor Ahern and Cathal McMonagle and Darren Cruise. The finals will be held next Friday night. This content is protected
Waiting for the Irish title to be on the line i suppose, also its a lose lose situation for Long,if he wins he's just going over old ground, if he loses well he loses, may as well have something on the line if he is to fight Fitz again. That just my opinion anyhow. PS I wasnt at the first one, was told it was a classic though.
Cancellation blow for Dazzler 15 July 2009 - By Mark Doyle Darren Sutherlands hopes of a fight before the end of the month have been scuppered for a second time. The Irish super-middleweight took his professional record to 4-0 with a fourth-round TKO of Gennadiy Raselev at the York Hall on June 30 and he had been scheduled to return to the ring in Sunderland ten days later. However, a minor cut to his right cheek put paid to that plan. As a result, Sutherland was added to the undercard of Jamie Moores European light-middleweight title defence against Jimmy Colas, in Altrincham on July 24. However, that card has now been cancelled after Moore was forced to withdraw because of a severe bout of the flu, much to the disappointment of promoter Frank Maloney. "I regret this has happened as I am not in the habit of calling off shows, but Jamie has been told to stay at home for five days, he explained. Even if he recovers he has lost crucial training days and with a world title fight so near we can't take chances." The British bantamweight title fight between Gary Davies and Ian Napa scheduled for the Moore bill has now been switched to the undercard of Septembers English heavyweight title clash between champion John McDermott and challenger Tyson Fury. However, it has not yet been revealed when Sutherland will next be in action. Shite Shite Shite:fire
the stoppage was complete bull**** imo, and yes this is shite.man im really startin to worry that darren went with the wrong man. possibly america was a good choice, possible peters, possibly something left field. anywho hes not getting enough fights, not against gd opposition. i thought he was gona be a super middle cotto! the fella is 26 years old and cant realistically have more than 25/30 fights at the top. il be so ****in angry if this guy slips through the net. someone tell me im being ridiculously pessimistic!?
I think most of us have had our concerns here about Sutherlands lack of action. He most likely wont fight until September now:verysad
It was a fantastic battle! one of the best domestic fights ive seen tbh..... really entertaining the crowd went mental.
it would be great if he would travel at short notice to fight on the hyland card... ah here is wishful thinking....
