Actually, what about Gary Lockett? Not saying he could beat these guys but he's disapperared off the radar since the Pavlik fight....
cheers bud she's tasty alright. His career is after stalling in the last year or two with all his problems with his ex manager/trainer the McLoughlin bros. hopefully he can get it back on track. an interesting article i posted before about him. http://www.secondsout.com/columns/thomas-hauser/the-truth-about-john-duddy
Good article Rebel I had heard alot about the problems with his promoters but never read into it. Sounds as if they had a laugh with Duddy. Is there an overall sum of what Irish ropes have taken from Duddy i got to Smichet fight and have to go now ill read the rest when i get in
"Yeah it does seem like Stewards plan to get Lee used to fighting brawlers after his loss to Brian Vera. All fighters on that list (Macklin, Barker, Duddy, etc) would have a hard time against Lee's last two opponents." McEwan Outclasses Vera on ESPN Hailing from Edinburgh, Scotland ,Craig McEwan stepped into the ring at Sundance Square in downtown Ft. Worth, Texas with very little fan base cheering him on last night but had future hall of fame coach Freddie Roach in his corner to guide him through the 10 round against hometown challenger Brian Vera. McEwan took control of the fight in the first round as he out punched the shorter Vera who couldnt seem to find a comfortable distance early in the bout. Vera landed a few flush shot late in the second and third rounds on McEwan and even managed to somehow open up a cut on his opponents right eye but it was McEwans onslaught of combinations that were doing the damage in this fight. McEwan took an early lead and didnt look back as he used his reach and footwork to counter off Veras lunging punches and land some thudding blows and vicious combinations and would punish Brian for the majority of the fight. Vera would make a little rally in the 7th and 10th rounds but just couldnt find a way to break his opponent. The very active McEwan would take a unanimous decision over a tough Vera with all three judges scoring it 97-93 for McEwan. Sorry, but I couldn`t resist being a smartarse! It would be great to see all these guys fight each other, though. Obviously I`d take McEwan to win it, but Lee, Duddy and Macklin would give a good account of themselves. Of course, Macklin and Barker are fighting in September, and though I think Macklin will win, it may be that I`ve underestimated Darren, who I feel has been a bit too protected. However, his style is perfect for Macklin, and if he is smart he could take it. I also think that Lee and Duddy are better than their last fights suggest and we`ll see them improving in the future. This fight prediction thing is great, isn`t it!
mccewan didnt have it all his own way that night , he got caught by some big shots by vera , lee was comfotabley beating vera and then all of a sudden his stamina went and the fight was stopped well to early , but it would be good fight in the future , i hope a lot of these fighters are matched together , imo macklin wins the tournament atm as lee hasnt been at his best , i think barker is too small for a middle , would be great to see it happening
Macklin is Lee's worst nightmare at the moment thats not to say that wont change down the line. I know macklin would sell his soul for a shot at lee!
Yeah macklin has that style that Lee dosent seem comfortable with atm , id love to see andy in with a few boxers in his next few fights get his confindence back , i dont think its any coincidence that he has been facing these brawlers in his last few fights , paddy is ther anywere i can watch lee's last fight as i missed it ?
That's ok cos I said Lee last 2 opponents which were Sipos and Fedotovs! I suppose we all have our favourites so no harm in backing your own.:good
Ive been looking for it myself i was there on the night and felt the boy showed some improvement as regards dealing with the style. but of course the people watching at home that havent seen much of lee were very quick to jump on the hate bandwagon........ the funniest thing i read was Lee "almost lost his last fight"
