He betters Calzaghe's record. Froch beat undefeated Pascal.. who went on to capture the WBC light heavyweight title. Calzaghe beat Lacy... who went on to achieve absolutely sod all. Calzaghe was v.lucky on the scores against Hopkins (and decked) Froch got decked by Taylor, but roared back and stopped him. Calzaghe fought a one-handed Kessler at home. Say Froch beats a two-handed Kessler in Copenhagen.... Before you all write "Well he wont beat Kessler" this thread is assuming he does and the impact on their legacies.
watched their fight today, it elevated both them imo. kessler was a bit gun shy but joes work rate chin and movement made him lose. carl sometimes waits to look like the man in charge and with kessler (after bring put down by taylor) he may live to regret it. problem for joes record is tha nobody knew how good he was until the last few fights of his career
Froch still hasn't had a dominant performance in his big fights yet. Calzaghe has a much more established resume which has more depth to Froch's. So no, if Froch beats Kessler his record would not surpass Calzaghe's.
I don't think legacies can be established by beating any particular opponent. Say Froch does beat Kessler well on points, but then gets brutally KOd by Ward or Bute? And then gets KOd a couple more times. The fact that he beat Kessler won't mean much for hislegacy as it will be viewed as a fluke, that he just had a perfect night.
Sigh, terrible post. Calzaghe will always be a better fighter than Froch even if Froch does do what you mentioned above, unless Froch suddenly learns new skills and develops attributes that he's never showed us before. Calzaghe is the better fighter, head to head and vs anyone else. You only have to watch them both fight to know that.
If Froch beats Kessler he still still won't have anything like the depth on his record that Calzaghe has.
People like to forget Froch has been around along time and took ****ing ages to make an impact on the world scene. Infact, I remember defending Carl Froch on this place, he was much maligned for his big mouth and lack of action. Now he's got gloryhunters swinging off his nutsacks.
i like both fighters and it annoys me with the constant comparisons people seem hellbent on picking holes in wat calzaghe achieved one thing i disagree with the original poster is his anaylsis of the taylor fight Froch got decked by Taylor, but roared back and stopped him i for one barely gave froch a round against the ageing taylor what defeated himwas his lack of fitness and i hate to say it desire
I dident give him a single round untill the last one and he was not winning that untill the stoppage.
