Who was the best at pentrating a opponents solid guard? Getting in that one inch or two that was open for a straight right, or something similar.

I find it far more impressive then being accurate on someone with their hands down, obviously

I've never been a fan of B-Hop, but he impressed me a lot with the way he dismantled Winky's guard. I hated him for it, but I have to admire it.

Even though it was against a Winky not at his best weight, i agree, was impressive.

I just agree with the first four words.

    But seriously, spot on.

Ali slashed through the guards of Terrell and Patterson repeatedly. Being a headhunter, it was bread and butter for him to be able to do this. Wilfredo Gomez was one of the very few world class boxers of his era who could uppercut effectively with both hands, extremely useful for penetrating a tight guard.

Some good names thrown so far. I'll add Hearns to the list.

That all around skill in addition to his power, and a cold, rather sadistic love for his work made Gomez especially scary in his prime.

Have been watching lots of his fights since his death and Arguello was a master at it, and he could do it with real venom.
