Floyd vs. JMM mismatch fight promotional blunders: 1. Fight was hurriedly announced just 12 hours before the Pacquiao-Hatton fight... It's not a good sign to promote a supposedly "big" fight riding on the buzz of some other big fight... If it's a big fight, it can stand on its own... 2. Floyd Mayweather Sr. proclaimed that JMM is just a TUNE UP fight for Floyd... Great!! Boxing fans will start buying tickets to see this tune up fight... 3. Promotional tour visit in London... No disrespect to boxing fans in London but why London? Is it because Matthew is fighting on the undercard? They should concentrate promoting the main event boxers... They could also have the promo tour to Mexico or to Grand Rapids instead of London... 4. The fight will be at a guessweight... :rofl It's up for the fans and media to guess the real weight these boxers will fight... I think this is one of the biggest promotional blunder... Weight as we all know is one of the most important factor in a fight and should be fixed and agreed upon during fight negotiation and should be clearly announced to the media and buying fans... 5. Floyd is willing to pay step aside money to JMM in order to fight somebody else... This only shows that their fight is really an irrelevant joke fight which can be easily postponed and/or canceled... It's also a big disrespect to JMM... Since this fight was announced, it's already been viewed as a huge mismatch fight where Floyd has all the advantages... Fans has little interest on this fight and it's not selling well... The promotional blunders make it worst... .
1. The reason the fight was announced on the eve of Hatton-Pac is because Floyd wanted to steal Pac's thunder. 2. Floyd Sr is an incoherent, babbling idiot, nobody takes him seriously. 3. I'll admit as a Brit the London tour was mystifying. 4. I thought the weight had been agreed as 147? Have I missed something? 5. The fact that Floyd has said he would give Marquez step-aside money to fight Pac does show that he needs Pac more than Pac needs him.
1. The move backfired because Pac won in spectacular fashion. 2. It appeared Floyd does not want to fight Pac. He could have waited for one day to know who would be the winner. 3. Yes, it also appeared that JMM is just a tune up fight. Who wants to buy this crap? 4. Weight is secret? What kind of a fight is this? Are they trying to screw Marquez? What a disrespect! 5. Floyd who said he's willing to pay Marquez a step aside money confirms that JMM is a tune fight. He wants Manny for the money.
You can read the thread link below for the latest about the guessweight... link --> http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=155207
the fight is ppv in england thats why the tour why woul dhe have to pay step aside money its not a titel fight what has marquez some right to fight him finally floyd never was a big ticket seller without hatton and oscar
Yep no disrespect to English boxing fans but I feel that visit is not that needed... They could have done it in Mexico to tap more Mexican fans rooting for JMM... I'm not sure tho if it will work since Mexican fans knew their man is in so much disadvantage for this fight... JMM is expected to lose this one... .
You have to pay step aside money cause there is a contract. You can't just call of a fight when its been signed and sealed.
Very good analysis! I agree. IMO Mayweather must be hurting for cash. IMO the numbers for the JMM fight look bad and he wants more money so he is willing to pay off JMM. My bet is Manny v. Gayweather generates 10 times as much money than JMM v. Gayweather.
Everything is fine now that they added John-Juraez II on the card. Winky in talks with Sturm on the card, it seems this can be a great promotion now and a great card!!!
Maybe . . . but just the same I can't see why people would want to buy a ticket for the fight between a 135 pounder and a 147 pounder on a guess weight scheme. atsch
