its not that kotelniks a plodder, he's a solid fighter. However he doesn't do things well enough to make that style really effective

    get ready for those scorecards

    I've been thinking similar.

I don't see why he'd take the risk of going to the body.

I think he could win clearly on the scorecards just by battering Kotelnik's guard. The crowd will go mad even if Khan is flurrying on Kotelnik's gloves and the judges will probably recognise it.

He could win this just on workrate alone, I wouldn't risk going to the body and leaving himself open.

Nah dont get me wrong i like Kotelnik but listening to Roach he says he comes in straight lines and is slow to pick feet up that's what i as meaning to say.

I think he will catch Khan coming in...12 rounds is a long time for Khan to box to this plan.

I think that Khan is more than capable of sticking to his plan over the distance.... but will he? and will the new weight solve Khan's punch resistance problem anyway?

Going to the body may make the difference between Khan ending the fight by KO..... or Khan ending the fight on points if he don't. Although yeah, it's always a risk.

These are the questions that hang over him till he lifts that belt. The idea of putting muscle on the legs may help him but i just feel the lads chinny and he falls short with a lot of punches and against Barrera he used up alot of nervous energy and against a live fighter in Kotelnik i see him getting in dangerous situations and being put in deep waters.

this will be cotto/clottey rather than winky/trinidad (not the fighters of course but the styles)

i can see people arguing about the scorecards for ages, kotelnik better let his hands go, the guy fights like he's punching on a budget

Yeah i agree with what you and all the lads are saying this is a winnable fight for Khan but the reason why this fight has some many threads is because Khans going into the unknown league for him and the chin issue will hang over him till the day he retires and that's why i'm really looking forward to this fight.

    well said

kotelniks style begs you to go to the body, but that gives kotelnik opportunity to sit in the pocket and work on the inside where khan has no skills whatsoever, there should be nothing more then sporadic body attacks

khan should just try and pick pocket this fight from long range, he has the better jab, foot movement and he can draw kotelniks lead plus the ukranian will be happy to stay on the outside

Totally agree...the one thing he has to not do is fire shots off from mid range and fall short...he must pick his shots and not stand right in front of Kotelnik begging to be hit because if he does he will find Kotelnik has a dig on him.

mandanda, you know what makes me confident of a khan win

kotelnik is so reactive and not proactive

this is all set up for khan, you could just see khan landing and with even little movement kotelnik falling short, if he can't beat this style he ain't going nowhere

Totally agree. Kotelnik is a solid world champ and if you can't beat a solid world champ then it's either go down the WBU,WBF routes or hang them gloves up.

Khans style may well be completely wrong for Kotelnik but that chin.......

Gets boring mentioning it I know but AK is too acurate a puncher for it not to be the salient factor in this fight.
Kotelnik late stoppage but I'll be glad to be proved wrong.
