if one of the main fights finish early..then you could see murray fight tomorrow night

but your more likely to see carl frampton fight tonight on sky

i think he could win this one.....but it will be very very tough

 

From what I've seen (courtesy of Moorser) he has a Kiko Martinez look about him. Just looking at his record on boxrec and he's only fought once outside of Thailand, a loss to Sidorenko, so Dunne would have to be the favourite once the fight isn't over there.

 

I am interviewing Ciaran Healy later today.It's my first time to ever interview someone properly - what questions should I ask?

 

ask him who is the best fighter/ most potential hes ever been in with. considering the likes of andy lee, jamie moore, mathew hall, anthony small, paul smith

 

Ask him what he would think of fighting for a second Irish Title against,
Light Middle Spike,Middle Robbie Long or Light Heavy Jamie Power would he like to school the rookies..:hey
Healy has boxed from light middle to light heavy and i think he would be cappable of beating any of the above, he's one tough *****!

Sutcliffe aiming to cement superiority

THE battle for Irish boxing’s light welterweight division takes place at the National Stadium tonight when Philip Sutcliffe (Crumlin) bids to cement his position at the top and a place in the team for the world boxing championships in Milan next September.

Last year, John Joe Joyce (St. Michael’s, Athy) stopped Sutcliffe on the 20-point rule in the national championships and went on to represent Ireland at the Olympic Games in Beijing and subsequently won a bronze medal at the European championships in Liverpool.

But the rivalry took a dramatic twist at this year’s championships when Sutcliffe, renowned for his big punch, caught the Mullingar man on the button in the very first round forcing the referee to stop the contest.

Since then Sutcliffe, whose father Philip is a former European bronze medallist, has done himself proud by bringing home medals from his two international tournaments.

Himself and Joyce make an enthralling pairing for tonight’s finals of the Open Tournament which has been organised by the IABA to assist them in the team selection for Milan.

In the semi-finals last week John Joe Joyce beat the promising Gorey light welterweight, John Murray, 10-6 while Matt Connery (Springhills) fell victim to Sutcliffe’s big punch and, like Joyce last February, failed to survive the first round.

Olympic silver medallist Kenneth Egan should book his place in another world championships by beating Darren Cruise (Crumlin) in tonight’s light heavyweight final.

Cruise, however, is not to be written off as he was impressive in his 11-2 defeat of Tom Roohan (St. Joseph’s) while Egan cruised to a 12-1 victory over Denis Hogan (Grangecon).

Athy lightweight, Eric Donovan, has had mixed fortunes in recent times, losing twice to Ross Hickey (Grangecon) at championship level and while he put all that behind him at this year’s senior championships, he got a rare fright from the world youths champion, Ray Moylette (St. Mary’s, Westport) in last weekend’s semi-finals when, after receiving a public warning, he hung on to win by a single point. Earlier he had to battle back from a 4-3 first round deficit.

Meanwhile Ross Hickey, dethroned by Donovan in February, enjoyed a second round stoppage over Robert Gorman (Balbracken) to set up another mouth watering showdown.

Roy Sheahan (St. Michael’s, Athy) has struggled with a succession of injuries that cost him a place in the team for last year’s Olympic Games but he showed all his old class if not a bit more when he stopped Thomas Blaney (Westside) in their welterweight semi-final last weekend to set up an interesting final against Adam Nolan (Bray/Garda) who outpointed Graham Hogan (Crumlin) 7-0 on the other side of the draw.

Heavyweight sensation, Con Sheehan (Clonmel) maintained his amazing record with a 9-0 victory over Danny Tourish (Twintowns) in last week’s semi-finals.

The tall Clonmel man is a class apart and he has the speed of a middleweight. As a teenager he held his own against some of the best heavyweights in the world and he already has his sights firmly set on this year’s world championships. Tonight’s assignment is interesting in that Conal Carmichael (Holy Trinity) has the punch that could cause problems.

Olympic bronze medallist, Paddy Barnes, and bantamweight champion, John Joe Nevin, both got byes in this tournament so they will be guaranteed selection for the world championships.

That sucks i was looking forward to that one,as for finding a decent opponent they'll find it hard to get anyone at this late stage.
More bad news in the star today Callan said Spike was fighting Marcen Gierke from Germany,I really hope not as this guy has a record of W9 L23 and yes has been knocked out in his last fight,All respect to the guy for fighting but really Collins should be looking for someone with at least a positive record.
