I just remember the hype HBO built up around him and all his flamboyant Naz-like antics, then he'd get in there and look not very impressive for three fights in a row despite registering a couple of stoppages (Alvarez, Makepula and then the gruesome UD over Ler - and yes I blame Arce as much as Ler for the crapfest that was their waltz...he could have charged in to TCOB but chose to whine and tantrum that Ler was too elusive when Pernell Whitaker he is not).

Cristian Mijares forever secured a place in my heart when he came out of total obscurity to batter the guy. :yep

Montiel actually ran away from Donaire by going up at 118. He was actually slated to fight Nonito.

Donaire - Montiel would be the higher quality match-up and a pretty much even money scrap; I'd actually favour Montiel in this one personally.

Let's see an Arce fight first, Then a Montiel showdown @ 118lbs.
(No need to rush Donaire just yet.)

Arce is shot to hell, Donaire would rip him a new one (or five).

Nonito fighting Jorge right now would be the equivalent of Calzaghe picking at the bones of ol' Roy Jones - great name value to add to the resume and bolster his own marquee status, but in reality not much of a laudable (or noble) accomplishment.

He didn't run away, he had troubles making the superfly limit and the fight was offered for that division and Montiel's title. I think Arum is still planning this excellent match-up, but Montiel has to win vs. Eric Morel first.
