SKY SPORTS BOXING The Commonwealth featherweight title clash between John Simpson and Paul Truscott has been cancelled due to severe flooding. Heavy rain in the north east meant that the Easton Sports Academy in Middlesbrough was awash with water and deemed unsafe for the public. Fire services were called to the venue and have been pumping out water from inside - as well as houses across the street - but at around 4.00pm the local council deemed it unfit to host the Matchroom bill. The dramatic scenes brought an added worry for local lad Truscott, who was due to defend his Commonwealth title, who lives down the road to the Easton. Sky Sports' Adam Smith, who was due to commentate on the card, said he "had never seen anything like it in 15 years commentating on the sport". The decision means Truscott will have to wait for another chance to fight for the title he lost to Simpson back in January, when he was stopped after eight rounds due to a bad cut over his right eye

shame, the first fight was a wee bit controversial. Think Simpson was on his way to a genuine stoppage anyway, but a rematch was nessecary.
