Pavlik at this moment has become irrelevant.

After Sturm's gift versus Gevor I can really see them going after that one as, despite his performance versus Sylvester, Sturm has shown that he is just not that good. I find it funny that Balzsay is there after that rant about being a middleweight.

Look for the fight to be against Sergio Martinez though.

looks like another list of average fighters for kelly to bully....
pavlik needs to step up the level of opposition,if that means a move to 168 so be it.

Second this. With the announcement of the 168 pound tournament whatever wind was left in his sails has disappeared. The only fights that could be coming up for Pavlik at 160 that would be interesting are Williams and Pirog if he establishes himself.

How can Williams not even be an option, but his leftovers are!?!?! Pavlik isn't a contender anymore, if you're the ring champ, you've got to fight the best!!!

    This has become a joke!!!

Sadly, you're right. I enjoyed watching Pavlik climb his way to a title shot, but since then, it's all been boring and a waste of great potential.

Hmm... the Balzsay fight looks interesting. That way he could get some leverage at 168 and look to fight Bute/Andrade/Green and then, if successful, the winner of that tournament. That's a bit unrealistic though, now. Ideally, he'd take out Sturm, hunt down the IBF belt and unify by mid-next year, then step up and with full commitment, i.e. building muscle rather than just bloating up. Then he can start campaigning at 168.

At least he's getting back in the ring.

I was a huge Pavlik fan when he came on to the scene - he really seemed like a guy that was willing to fight anyone, and I cheered him against Taylor and Hopkins!! But I now detest him...and will even cheer protected Felix Sturm against him!!!

    a) He's moaning about only being offered $1m to fight Sturm. Granted, this is a drop on his past pay-packets but he needs to factor in that he was humiliated by B-hop, that we're in a recession, and that he's fighting Felix Sturm...it's not a huge fight!!

    b) After the Hopkins loss, the only way to regain his reputation and the $$$$ he was earning before is to fight and beat good fighters.

    c) He says the tournament contenders are fighting for peanuts but I'll guarentee the winner (and maybe even the runner-up) will be top P4P material and be earning huge $$$ in their next fight. He'll probably start begging them to fight him after disposing of a shot Wright, John Duddy and JCC Jnr and calling the winner chicken like he did Calzaghe. The peanuts comment was either down to pure envy, or a guy that doesn't believe he has any chance of winning it!!

All the Pavlik fans are saying that he refused the fight against Mora, so it's surely inconceivable that he would consider Martinez as a viable opponent....

yep...the same people saying he isnt going to get a huge money fight anytime soon are getting pissy b/c the fights being talked about arent huge money fights. agreed that he should get all the straps and then work hard to become a real smw, not just fight at smw

Sturm or Balzay are ok opponents. Also Butes maybe looking for future foes as he's not in the tournament.
Winky or Martinez do nothing for Pavlik or boxing.

BigBone had a thread the other day (maybe yesterday?) that pav/bute may happen at msg early next year assuming both fighters take care of business in the ring before then...if thats the case pav needs a live opponent before hand.
