Then Balszay fits the bill nicely. Useful but beatable, has a title and will help Pavlik aclimatise to 168lbs. To sm champs in a row will quiet all but the harshest of critics.
Can't see it happening though. This is boxing after all.

These 2 seem like to 2 that really missed he boat with the tournamnet...so it seems logical that they get it on at some point so one of them can position themselves to fight the winner of the tournamnet.

if bute is a real possibility then balszay would fit the bill nicely i agree 100%. he is a southpaw isnt he?? pav doenst have much time in the ring w/ southpaws so it would be nice to get a live southpaw at 168 before getting in there w/ bute. i know he wants to get all the mw straps but at the end of the day, i don't know if its a wise investment of time if all the real challenges (which usually = more $$) are at smw. combine that w/ the fact that there isnt anyone at mw to challenge him currently w/ no one on the horizon either (except for pwilly which would be a fun fight to watch i just don't think its smart for pwilly to get in there w/ pav right now...maybe in the future but not now)

Me too, but I doubt Sturm will leave his home country. He is just the definition of paper champ.

there has never been a serious offer for him too...if the money were right i'd think he would go fight sturm in germany. but then you also have to think about sturm and the fact that its also going to take a big payday for him to fight pav and lose. he does well for himself in germany and the 2m hbo offered for the fight was an insult to both fighters

WTF how is Winky Being Mentioned and not Williams thats all sorts of ****ed up . right there.

Anyone trhinking Balzsay is a stepping stone to Bute are out of their mind. Look at Balzsay fight with INkin he has above average boxing skills and has good pop. TBh honest it'll be a tough fight for KP but im backing him to win. hope he goes for Balzsay or at least Sturm(wich would be a beat down in 6 rounds.) I say HBO should Fund a MArtinez vs PW fight At 154 if KP vs Sturm comes off and then HAve a garuntee the winner of that fight gets a shot at KP.

i don't mean to suggest that balzsay is a "stepping stone" like he's not that good but if bute is a likely fight for pav early next year, a balzsay fight would be a good measuring stick for pav personally to see where he is at that weight. balzsay is no chump by any means

I like this idea. Put them on the same card and have a big ratings night.

Balzsay would be my first choice, and it's really not even close between him and Sturm.

Its not pavlik's fault the middleweight division sucks. These 4 guys are pretty much what he is stuck with right now. Although it would be nice to see Paul Williams name on that list.

    Good idea.

Folks need to understand the history behind Winky and Pav. This is an OLD rivalry that has never made it to the ring. Winky has always found a reason not to fight.

Sturm wont come back to the states agian,Balozy or whatever his name is is a 168 pounder would he move down ? Id love a Winky fight but 2 straight loses kinda hurt the legitmatcy of that fight. I think Sergio Martinez is the best fight and the most likely.
