Y'know "Ricky Hatton syndrome", like when he was about to fight Floyd Mayweather. When the fight was first announced it seemed an obvious mismatch to me, but as the date got closer and Hatton/Tabloid/TV propaganda went into overdrive I actually started to believe that he had a real good chance of pulling it off. I went from like 90-10 Mayweather to 60-40 Mayweather. Not comparing Khan and Kotelnik to these two, but as the fight draws closer I find myself having doubts over my initial pick of Kotelnik KO. I think I'm being suckered in by all the "Roach is God, and can turn water into wine" and "Khan's chin will be so much stronger at the higher weight" arguments. The only reason I'm sticking with Kotelnik is because I've learnt my mistake and realise this is probably "Ricky Hatton syndrome"; so I'm gonna stick to my guns on this one. Anyone else feel they've been a bit influenced by the whole build-up; I see a lot of votes for a Khan stoppage in the prediction thread, which would have been inconceivable when the fight was first announced. So who's been swayed. Be honest now.:hey PS: This is just good old theory, and could turn out to be bull**** when Khan splatters Kotelnik in the first round; but **** it, I'll run with it and suffer the consequences later on.
Yep exactly the same. However this time I haven't been dumb and stuck with Kotelnik KO. The only person who makes me doubt myself is Roach.
I can so relate to that. Same here when the Mayweather Hatton fight was announced I initially thought Mayweather would kill him, but ended up backing Hatton after watching the build up programs and got sucked in. This time with Khan I believe he's so short a favourite because of the sheer mass of support he is getting at the bookies - I think William Hill have reported 75% of bets for Khan. I'm sticking by my guns too - I've backed Kotelnik and have doubted my decision, but I'm sticking by my guns and watching it all unfold.
Oddly enough, I've found myself drifiting away from this fight. It hasn't captured my imagination at all, I don't seem to be able to give a **** about the outcome. I feel quite detached from the whole thing.
It depends if I can be bothered going online. I dunno, there is a good chance, but Its not something I'll go out of my way to watch, especially 'cause my Jorge Acre career set arrived today I'm sort of felt myself drifting towards Amir Khan fandom after Hatton's demise, because I thought it was the patriotic thing to do. But every interview I read or snippet from Team Khan...I just think...his career is being managed in a way that I disapprove of, so I'm really indifferent towards him and this fight now. I mean, 'throw the belt in the bin and fight Morales'? 'Proved all the critics wrong by beating Barrera'...:?
I getcha. I'm actually most looking forward to the Hall-Small fight; can't see that one "not" delivering. I'll praise Khan if he wins fair and square; Kotelnik will be a damn fine scalp at this stage. But I'll say my new found hope in the boy will go to **** if he just throws the belt away to avoid a clash with Maidana, especially if he signs to fight Morales instead.
I'm the opposite, at first I thought Khan would get the win, but the more I've seen his sparring vid and rumours regarding him in training, I'm now the opposite and predict Kotelnik knocking out Khan.
For me its the other way around, i thought khan chose an easy option for a world title but as the weeks have got closer ive realised what a step up this will be for him
nah ricky hatton syndromes different because ricky makes out hes one of the greatest fighters to ever live, he says himself every fight, he has no doubts hes gonna win, he makes everyone else believe him because hes a lovable guy... people get drawn in and start feeling for him as hes one of ya m8s, then u start thinking with ya heart.. coz you desperately want him to win.... he turns people ignorant.. makes u just believe he'll do it.. your like "awwwwww hes sooo sweet aint he" with his likkle manc accent and chubby face.... haha... there are good reasons why khan should be better at 140, there is a lot of truth behind it... i think he'll be too powerfull and comfortable at the weight... he was properly boiled down at 135, his bodys probably been waiting for him to stop killing himself... he looks massive at the weigh in, its like hes grown... i doubt he'll even be able to get down to 135 again... his whole body structure has grown.. if khan was at 135 fighting Kotelnik i'd definitely pick KOtelnik for some reason.. khan was pathetic at lightweight... hes soo scrawny and fragile at 135.. like a little anorexic...
Hatton syndrome!!! It is funny the amount of people who back Ricky though :nod Mike Tyson always backs him!! Erik Morales backed Hatton against Pacquiao. Kostya Tysu against Mayweather... Anyhoo Amir can overpower Kotelnik with his acccutrate flurries but it's not going to be over quick, unless Kotelnick lands a flush combination. Then it's lights out.
i suffered big time from hatton syndrome, when hatton pac was made i gave hatton no chance then by fight week i was 55 - 45 in favour of pac as for khan here is a little assessment on recent events that have really swayed me to think kotelnik will stop khan tonight and put some funds on it maidana v ortiz - kotelniks stock rises dramatically a rewatch of khan barrerra - khan threw a lot of pitter patter punches and looked to be getting tired, also mab landed a sneaky right which dipped khans knees prescott loses last night and in his previous fight couldnt halt his foe - end result here is that prescott is not the banger the khan camp claimed to have been after the fight, khans chin is probably worse than expected the move up to 140 was not over weight isues it was to avoid such a hot division 135 was at the time khan was there, the move up might not increase his punch resistance as sky are saying im excited for this fight now should be good
