He was indeed impressive today fighting behind an improved guard however how would you see him against the much bigger puncher in Maidana?
In all fairness to Maidana he probably did'nt box against Kotelnik so that's probably why he lost, if Khan would have fought toe to toe with Kotelnik he probably could have lost also. But props to Khan for a good performance today.
Kotelnik was able to land flush on Khan a couple of times. If he gets caught flush with a power shot from Maidana I still don't think Khan would survive despite Khan's great showing against Kotelnik. Plus Khan didn't really hurt Kotelnik, so I doubt he would be able to keep Maidana (who proved how tough he was against Ortiz) off him. Khan looks like a better boxer but Maidana may be too much.
Maidana by KO. Khan wouldn't hurt Maidana and Maidana would keep on coming. Khan **** his pants when he saw Ortiz-Maidana ringside.
I actually had Maidana winning 115-113....but Maidana/Khan would be a great fight...Maidana is a very busy fighter and would definitly test Khan's chin....if khan doesnt get KO'd i could see this being an interesting fight
Maidana would win by stoppage. Khan has great talent, but his chin is a large flaw that requires some pretty specific handling, as in, no power puncher matchups if all possible.
maidana is just to hard punching for khan. Even though khan is champ i feel he's not ready to fight the toughest guys in the buisness
I still think Ortiz has the best chance out of everyone of beating Khan despite everyone's obsession with triangle theory and its variations (in this case, Khan>Kotelnik>Maidana>Ortiz). Maidana would have a good shot as well, but I'm not sure he would be able to land without being put down himself if Khan stays disciplined.
I'm a big Maidana supporter and picked him to TKO Victor Ortiz, but Khan wins this by decision. Here's what I said before this fight: Khan can't even take an average flush power shot so it doesn't really take a puncher to stop him - it takes an excellent fighter to be ABLE to land that shot, and crisp counter-puncher Kotelnik had waaaaaaaaay many more chances than wild slugger Marcos would - and the Ukranian still couldn't do it. Chinny Wlad uses superior skills, speed and defense to get the win vs. less skilled opposition, and I see Khan doing the same vs. Maidana, who himself looks to be vulnerable to flush power shots. Khan by wide UD (accidentally voted for Khan by TKO).
Maidana is obviously a much bigger puncher than is Kotelnik and the jury will always be out on Khan's punch resistance. If I was Roach I would be in no hurry to put Khan in with the Argentinian.
I thought Amir done really well tonight, but I've said all along that Maidana is a bad style for him. Maidana KO.
