What do you think the chances of this match-up are? Maidana is next in-line for a shot, but is there any way Khan could take a fight with Morales instead. A few heads mentioned him dropping back down a weight to possibly avoid Maidana.. who has a high KO rate.
i dunno man, i dont think khans ready for that sort of fight, he needs to keep improving and getting stronger at the weight... in about a year i'd let him fight him, but maidana is a cranky *******, and khans still a bit vulnrable... the Kotelnik fight is a step to what khans style will evolve around, if he can produce KO power, he'd be the perfect little boxer, as well as taking some nice punches...
No chance really. Warren doesn't want another 'unknown' (over here he is) fighter coming over and knocking Khan out. He would rather stick him in with Mosley. :deal
Unknown South American No.2; doesn't sound good does it:think Kotelnik is a good style for Khan, Maidana is not.
frank warren knows the score, he knows who to fight.. he knows khan better than khan knows himself... khan would fight anyone... maidana is too aggressive and hits to hard, he'd drag khan down, kotelnik gives khan time to breath, khan still cant handle the pressure that well, hes gets all twisted up and confused... all it takes is one hook when khans chins floating about.... and maidana would knock any fighter out even if you got a good chin khan needs to keep working on his defensive skills, and trying to build up some knockout power.. if he had KO power, you could take risks with him... coz his defense ain't that bad, and his ring smarts have improved loads...
it should be irrelivent question. Maidana is Khans mandatory so should be his next fight. If Khan wants to call himself a world champion he should be prepared to fight all comers.
I agree. But this is Warren we are talking about, even his world champions only fight "select" oppoinents. If Khan gives up that belt instead of fighting Maidana then he is gutless and a embarresment to British boxing.
-it isn't Khan's decision really, so he wouldn't be the gutless one. -if Khan can outbox Kotelnik he can definitely outbox Maidana. The training camp will have to be mainly defensive training. Khan's using the jab very well, keeping the opponent away. Lots of jabbing for 6 rounds, along with a few combos, and then opening up a little in the next 6 should be the gameplan. He should be looking at fighting Maidana, Witter, perhaps Malignaggi, Ricky Hatton.
