roach has improved khan in so many departments

after watchin last nights fight it was clear to me that roach has worked hard on many areas of khans game and credit to khan he appears to be disciplined enough to listen and learn most notablly his balance and head movement in my opinon have improved beyond reognition there was a moment in the 8th when kotelnik tried to come on strong and khan used his feet and head movement to avoid the on coming assault superbly whilst the old khan who didnt have these skills would have tried to trade in a situation and get caught cold,basically i take my hat off to freddie roach hes done a superb job and is building a fighter we areproud of

 

Yes his learnt to cover up and is moving great, only thing is he lacks KO power which is a shame as with that he could go that one step further.

I'm looking forward to see how Khan develops over the next few years - he still hasn't peaked and Freddie's got him young.

Within the space of 3 camps, Khan has improved so much. I really believe this guy is doing to do great things for British Boxing over the years to come. He's only 22, imagine him at 24/25 years of age when he has real "man strength" as Alex Ariza calls it.

I'm watching the fight again while having breakfast and like you say, 2min45 seconds into the 8th round - Khan's headmovement and footwork is amazing. The boy looks slick.

 

Dont see it. That was Kotelnik in the other corner.

Me neither,the only things I saw were a high guard and having Amir box and move rather than as a devestating hitter which he never ever truthfully was.He'll not unless he's matched very softly hold on to his strap for long.

 

what i saw was a guy who totally dominated a fight and stuk to a gameplan which was to pick up points and outbox kotelnik , to hit and not get hit is a wonderful skill to have in your locker and one that will serve him well in his career

 

That is what I said,I diddent see any great improvements other what I mentioned,a high guard and the fact he dident fight like as if he were some thunderous hitting destroyer,which he never ever was.He'll not hold onto his strap for long unless matched very carefully/softly.His lack of power and poor chin will see to that.

 

We dont see Khan power in this fight becouse its very hard to hit guy like kotelink who is always behind the guards.

 

amir's footwork was superb last night.

 

He just seems to fight with his brain now rather than his balls.

The footwork, handspeed etc were always there, but used much smarter.

The frailties are still there, but Kotelnik wasn't able to take advantage.

Even though he now has the title, you still wouldn't feel confident about sticking him in with certain opponents.

 

Khan now reminds me of a Joe Calzaghe with no chin, no accuracy, worse fitness and no counter-punching ability or plan B.

Volume punching and speed is very effective though.

 

He does not have great power,never has done.

 

Khan is the exact same fighter but with some slight adjustments. Roach did good to tell Khan to stop hooking and get back to the jab. It made a difference.

Khan still fights like an amateur. He won because of activity, just like he would in an amateur fight. With his speed 19% connect is not impressive. Khan did the same 'shoot his load early and fight tired for the rest of the fight'.

Khan looks down at the floor when covering up. He is always off balance and open.

Khan uses his speed to overcome everything and if he isn't put away it will often work but the same technical flaws are there for a top fighter to counter.

To be honest this looked the exact same scenario with Pac but slowly and surely he became an animal. Subtle changes took place and it took a good few years to really see what Pac had become.

 

Even when Khan covered up he wasnt deft with it and looked ever so fragile. Facts is the only facet this boy possess's is very fast hands. But those fast hands wont get much respect because theres nothing on those pitty pat punches and he has very little variation other than throwing straight lefts and rights in rapid fashion. Its nice and showy for the uneducated but a savvy box puncher would walk straight through it. Right now id fancy even a guy like Holt to do a job on him. Khan just doesnt have the tools. Roach or no Roach.
