Excellent assessment and precisely how i saw it. Why cover up and then look at the ground? If Kotelnik had some power he would have punched through his guard and straight through the top of his head with a counter.

You think thats superb footwork? Amir doesnt even know "how" to use a ring. He has no spacial awareness. He cant cut down a ring either and looked awful in the cup.

Khan was lucky to be fighting one of those fighters who are obsessed with their full guard. Kotelnik, like Sturm, Wright, Quartey can be beaten because if you are letting your hands go they will cover and wait for an opportunity. If you can let your hands go enough then they end up giving away too many points and these guys often don't have the power to salvage a victory.

Still, a quality win but if we get caught up in the hoopla we'll all be brought back down to earth when he gets ko'd for his amateurish mistakes.

Definitly a quality win but most certainly NOT a world championship bout. That bout should have been the equivalent of a Commenwealth or possibly an EBU scrap. Its a travesty to see a belt as historic as the WBA on the line in a bout like this. All this does is lend even more credence to the false idea's Khan has about himself.

Khan is now in 12 round championship bouts. If he gets tired like he did last night vs a non puncher he's going to be in for some real interesting experiences when the best fighters at 140 come chasing him for his belt.

roach clearly told khan in between rounds tuck your chin in and look up this is another of roach improving khan this aint a thread about khan being unbeatable or great its about how roach is bringing him on of course theres plenty of scope for improvement and lots of flaws tto be worked on khan is still akid in boxing terms but there has been huge improvement since the prescott fight

How would you rate Khan's chances against the top 10 LWW's - going by Boxrec?

Clearly the best part of Khan's defense was his epic bobbing and weaving in round 7 where he was almost in trouble and he was just like "lol no" then started ****ing slipping and dodging Kotelnik's punches and ended up on the other side of him. I was like "holy ****!"

I simply hope that the changes are subtle and there will be more. I can see some but nothing amazing. I hope he turns into Pac.

Your entitled to your opinion mate but im a stark realist. Iv been watching boxing for some time to know that Khan simply doesnt possess the intestinal fortitude or abilities to be long reigning champ in this very tough game. You talk about improvements and the ability to improve as though all it takes is a world class trainer to magically bring that out of him as a matter of course.

Khan makes a plethora of amateur mistakes. He looks so fragile in the ring and iv not seen any of this supposed noted improvement you speak of. All i see is a more controlled whirling dirvish. Roach is attempting to educate Khan as to "how" to smart fight. If the kid fights smart he can beat the Kotelniks of this world. But thats where the fairy tale ends..

I'd second most of that..... especially the fragility. He just KNOWS he can't take shots, so doesn't plant his feet properly for fear of hooking counters - instead relying on fast flurries and getting out of there.

The only real improvement is that he doesn't try to bang his way out of potential troublesome periods.

That wont happen. Pac possessed many great attributes before he met Roach. Namely his conditioning and power. All he needed was someone to control that rather than the all out punching style he had looking for the KO at all costs. Khan just doesnt have those abilities. I mean look at his punch variation. Its awful. His footwork is just as poor. He's too easy to hit too upright and always reverts back to his amateur ways.

Thats just basic commensense that Khan has never possesed. Why would you try and stand and trade when you know your not a fearsome puncher and have such a poor chin? You cant count that as an improvement at all. Someone call me when Khan can throw a 1 2 hook and roll in the cup with his feet planted.

Dry your eyes mate Khan's a world champ, regardless of how he got there. :good Give him some dues. In his third fight post brutal KO by an unknown Columbian, this is awesome going.
