i couldnt have said it better myself.....although i do give JT shot at winning the tourny....if he keeps his head in the game he can beat anyone in the world(except Pavlik)
I knew that Taylor would fight everybody. But he never wanted to fight outside of the US. He refused to fight Calzaghe in Wales (or priced himself out). I didn't think that he'd ever leave his backyard. No, he does - without any whining. MASSIVE respect. :good
Talk about taking the hard road and never complaining he totally blew that opportunity with Froch though if he stays on his feet he wins unfortunate.
Mighty fine post:deal Even though you have only seen AA a couple times you pegged him correctly. I've seen 7 of his fights, and they are all the same. The only time he switched things up was when he found out Marquez could not hurt him. It is difficult to have a lot of confidence in JT right now, but he represents everything that troubles Abraham: Height, reach, a quick stiff jab, a good counter-right, fast-accurate combinations, et. Abraham looks good knocking out derelicts, prospects, and club fighters, but he has never faced anyone at Jermain's level. If JT has anything left, he should win a wide UD. The really cool thing about it is that Abraham is so ridiculously over rated that a win would put JT right back on top of the world.
JT has the tools to outbox AA but I don't know about his mental state. At some point in this fight AA will land some bombs and JT might bow out again. I hope I'm wrong though and JT comes in focused like in the second Pavlik fight.
The version of JT from the Pavlik rematch would beat Abraham easily. Jermain would not be trying to deal with a bigger man who throws 80 or so punches per round. Instead, he would be dealing with a guy who stands around doing nothing for 2 1/2 minutes per round, and drops his hands nearly every time he throws, paws with his jab, et.
This would not be an upset in my opinion. Abraham's claim to fame is he picked up a vacated belt. Let's be real honest here. IF there were only one belt, would anyone have considered him a legit contender given his resume or just a protected fighter protecting his OH waiting for his title shot like John Duddy? If there were only one title he would have been forced to take on better competition to be taken seriously. Yeah, middle may be weak, but AA dredged the bottom at times and still didn't exactly shine. His fans say he fights down to the level of his competition because he isn't motivated? atsch Fine example of 'champion' there.
This torney will be it for JT if he doesnt win. If he comes ready, he could beat AA. It all depends on if JT wants to be a fighter or if he wants to sweep up the gym floor. Hes got talent but thats not enough.
well the way they seem to be "keeping score" of these fights seems to allow a fighter not to have his career ended just b/c he doesnt win the whole damn thing. what w/ ko's being worth more than UD's, etc. that is good for taylor b/c he's not the best finisher and i see him winning UD's against these smw's rather than stopping them (if he wins i means) i have been a big fan of jt for a long time. he seems to be a class act (miami incident aside for a moment) and gives credit where it is due even in a loss. he's more of an athlete who can box a little. i will be pulling for him big time and do think if he isnt ruined he can make some noise. i think he can take froch and aa and who knows how dirrell and ward will handle someone w/ jt's skills. should be very interesting JERMAIN MOTHER ****ING TAYLOR!!!! GIVE'EM HELL JERMAIN!!!!
Ya know Hermit -- I hadn't thought about the one title angle, but you are absolutely correct. Abraham would never have held the title. How could he? He has never faced a world champion. He had a chance to face JT when Jermain was champ, but turned it down.
It's funny, you and Boo are the ONLY ones who discredit AA, POST AFTER POST, since I joined this forum. ABSOLUTELY nothing EVER from your posts that are positive or complimentary. I have NEVER seen posters who write SUCH negativity towards a fighter, and recently most posters on this site have caught on from their replies. So yourself and Boo, never replied to my question. What happened to "build your profile"?:rofl Then talk about a Sturm fight? So what is the reasoning to fight Sergio Martinez? So what is the reasoning for potentially fighting Mora? I wonder how you and Boo would have reacted if Arthur decided to fight 154 pounders? You would probably want arthur publicly executed. Now, the new thing with you guys is arthur avoided Pavlik, to fight Jermain Taylor, Ward, Direll, Kessler and Froch! BUT he avoided Pavlik according to you. So now, Boo is stating arthur will "quit" after he gets humiliated by JT. If there is ANY boxer in THE WORLD right now, THAT WON'T QUIT, it is Arthur. That is disrespectful to even mention that about arthur, I could care less if he loses or gets KTFO, but to say arthur quits, shows the absolute HATE you guys have towards 1 BOXER in this world and it is pretty obviously. And this is a boxer that was the only competition to your GOD Kelly, quite interesting if you ask me. So tell me, what is it with you guys and your hate for arthur, I myself don't "hate" any boxers, I am a fan of the sport and I do have my favorites. It is blind fans like you 2 who makes the "general fan" of boxing hate the ones you support.
First, I did answer every one of your questions, and you went off on a tirade about how money should not matter. Second, I do not hate Arthur Abraham. I don't even know the man. However, he is very obviously the most over rated fighter in the world today. MY posts go over the top at times, but nine times out of ten I simply point out the facts. If I point out the many links between shot to **** McKart, and AA's recent opposition, am I hating on Arthur, or just telling the damn truth? If I say Arthur CHOSE Elvin Ayala over Zuniga, am I hating, or just stating the facts? If I point out that Shannon Taylor got stopped by a part time boxer/part time bus driver in Raymond Joval, and went the distance with AA in his next fight, that's telling the truth, not hating.
Nice long post and you are putting words in my mouth. You are going to have to show me quotes of where I said this stuff. None of this has to do with what I posted does it? I simply pointed out that if there was one title and it was help by Pavlik, being the lineal champ, AA's resume would not have gotten him a shot at the title. He would have been forced to step up his level of competition. I think that is pretty obvious. Just because there are 5 titles doesn't mean they are all equal. Try looking at that objectively. AA got a shortcut when JT vacated. You can't say otherwise. It is what it is.
Would it really be an upset? Taylor has to be the favorite, has fought and beat wayy better opposition although hes lost a few. He is in no way done as a fighter.
jermaine is good, but he doese have some stamina problems as has been said before. He also lacks the right mental attitude
