if he fights prescott n beats him the haters will say well presscott has already been outboxed it proves nothing. firstly let khan establish himself at 140 i think he has a good chance of beating witter and bradley and hatton but he needs the experience with a few easy mando's
Then the haters will be irrelevant. As it stands anyone who brings up Prescott constantly is correct. Khan has had more than enough free lunches. Now that he holds a championship belt he should be proving himself against the best tests. It really is not too much to ask that a fighter rematches someone that he already fought.
No but he should have. What if Pacquiao never rematched Morales? What if Leonard never rematched Duran? What if Ali never rematched Frazier? What is Lewis never rematched Rahman?...the list goes on and you get my point that without rematches to losses there are unanswered questions. Now im not a Khan hater nor am I his biggest fan but I hope he does well for British boxing. But in order to silence his haters he should take the rematch soon and show everyone how much he has improved and is on his way in becoming an elite level boxer.
That Kotelnik bout was no free lunch. And Barerra? He's earned a pay-day against Hatton or a couple of easy mandatory's in my opinion. It's not a smart play to be even thinking about Prescott again at this stage for a whole variety of reasons. There is simply no way he's showing up on Khan's radar.
Not at all. Fine matches. Then our opinions on what should be expected of a champion are vastly different. As a fan I hold that a champion should take the best tests within reason. Fighting a guy he has already fought is well within reason. This is Khan's business. As a fan I do not expect a fighter to do anything outside reason, but I certainly expect someone with the title of champion to be taking tough tests. If Khan does not want to do that it is his prerogative, but many will rightly criticize him: That is the price of being a champion.
He'll not even dream of fighting Presscott again. I hope he does, as beating Presscott in a rematch would dispel any lingering doubts as to how much improved Khan is. But the very likely chance of him being caught again, would most likely end his mainstream career.
''reason''...?????.........I thought this was a boxing forum! We all want to see the best fights, no argument there. But Khan is young....he needs to be managed with care and that points towards an easy mandatory defence or two in my estimation....the bigger fights will come when the time is right. As for Prescott, I can't see any good reason to take him on again AT THIS STAGE, but who knows...their paths may cross down the line. Either way, I think Khan is going to fill arenas for a while yet.
Am I the only one who's still trying to figure out why Khan ever fought Prescott in the first place? Was the criticism over Khan's chin so overwhelming that they had to go and find the first undefeated puncher they could come across to prove that Khan can take a punch? Khan wasn't gonna get credit for beating Prescott then. Other than the revenge factor, why would he get credit for beating Prescott now? It's good to avenge your losses but it's also good to be weary of traps. The loss never goes away. People still hold Lennox Lewis's losses against him and he avenged both of them. Wladimir Klitschko beat Lamon Brewster in the rematch but which fight do you think more people remember? Prescott is a dangerous opponent and he's already beaten Khan once. What would happen if lightning were to strike twice? Khan should probably look elsewhere.
Because before the Presscott fight, Khan was receiving a lot of criticism for fighting past it/blown up featherweights with no punching power. Fighting a fighter that was as big as Khan, undefeated and with an impressive record would help to shut up some people for a while. But that plan backfired completely. Not only that, but I think that loss forced Warren to march Khan onwards and upwards if h was to make any sort of real money on this little goldmine. If Khan had beaten BP, I doubt he would of fought for a title by now.
