    We know Chavez is known to be an all time great from boxing and Mayweather is a current top fighter and has won multiple belts in divisions through his career. I know Mayweather is still fighting, but when he retires... Who you guys think have fought the better "prime" opponents in their both respective careers. Also could we please hear some names on their list, which you guys feel one fighter has fought the better opponent. This could get interested.:good

    To much work for a lazy **** like me bro...
    But let's just remember that hindsight can be a very deceiving *****!.

    For instance names like Taylor & Corrales have lost some sting when looked at in hindsight.
    (But when they fought against Chavez & Mayweather Jr. they were the best @ their best)

    Just based on names alone win/loss
    It has to be Chavez.

    Rafael "Bazooka" Limón
    Roger Mayweather (+Prime)
    José Luis Ramírez
    Edwin Rosario (-Prime)
    Juan Laporte
    Tony López
    Meldrick Taylor (+Prime)
    Hector Camacho

    Chavez fought the better opponents, absolutely no doubt about that. The 1993 version of Whitaker, a prime Oscar De La Hoya, a prime Meldrick Taylor - all three are far, far better than anyone Floyd ever fought. Even guys like Ramirez, Rosario and Camacho are at least as good if not better than the best Floyd ever fought (Castillo and a past-prime Oscar).

    Chavez, by far, has the better resume, but who really can take on a prime De La Hoya, a prime Whitaker. In their primes, De La Hoya and Whitaker were probably unbeatable. As unbeatable as Mayweather is today. Nobody has his number and probably not for a couple more years.

    Julio Cesar Chavez won 107 (KO 86) + lost 6 (KO 4) + drawn 2 = 115
    Roger Mayweather 21-2-0 w tko 2
    Edwin Rosario 31-2-0 w tko 11
    Jose Luis Ramirez 101-6-0 w td 11
    Roger Mayweather 34-5-0 w rtd 10
    Meldrick Taylor 24-0-1 w tko 12
    Hector Camacho 40-1-0 w ud 12
    Greg Haugen 32-4-0 w tko 5
    Pernell Whitaker 32-1-0 d12
    Frankie Randall 48-2-1 l sd 12
    Frankie Randall 49-2-1 w td 8
    Tony Lopez 45-4-1 w tko 10
    Giovanni Parisi 29-1-0 w ud 12
    Oscar De La Hoya 21-0-0 l tko 4
    Oscar De La Hoya 28-0-0 l tko 8
    Kostya Tszyu 24-1-0 l tko 6
    15 fights 10 wins 4 losses 1 draw 6 kos.
    Floyd Mayweather Jr won 39 (KO 25) + lost 0 (KO 0) + drawn 0 = 39
    Genaro Hernandez 38-1-1 w rtd 8
    Angel Manfredy 25-2-1 w tko 2
    Diego Corrales 33-0-0 w tko 10
    Carlos Hernandez 33-2-1 w ud 12
    Jesus Chavez 35-1-0 w tko 9
    Jose Luis Castillo 45-4-1 w ud 12
    Jose Luis Castillo 46-5-1 ud 12
    Arturo Gatti 39-6-0 tko 6
    Carlos Manuel Baldomir 43-9-6 w ud 12
    Oscar De La Hoya 38-4-0 w sd 12
    Ricky Hatton 43-0-0 w tko 10
    11 fights 11 wins 0 losses o draws 6 kos.
    Chvez has 15 fights to Mayweather's 11, but Mayweather has 11 wins to Chavez's 10. Both have 6 kos. Advantage Mayweather
    Best win based on opoent not on preformance. for Chavez = Edwin Rosario 31-2-0 w tko 11
    for Mayweather = Diego Corrales 33-0-0 w tko 10
    Edwin Rosario when he faced Chavez was better than Diego Corrales when he faced Mayweather. Advantage Chavez
    Best opoonent at time of fight. Chavez = Pernell Whitaker 32-1-0 d12
    Mayweather = Diego Corrales 33-0-0 w tko 10
    While Corrales was very good Pernell Whitaker is an all time great, and in his prime. The draw which many belive to be a loss hurts Chavez but Whitaker > Corrales Advantage Chavez
    Best win in terms of preformance. Chavez = Edwin Rosario 31-2-0 w tko 11
    Mayweather = Diego Corrales 33-0-0 w tko 10. While Mayweather's win over Corrales is a masterpeice Chavez's win over Rosario may be the best performance ever in boxing. Advantage Chavez.
    Worst performance Chavez = Pernell Whitaker 32-1-0 d12
    Mayweather Jose Luis Castillo 45-4-1 w ud 12. A lot of people think Mayweather recived a gift in this one. I have never heard anyone argue that Castillo domnated Mayweather. In a match up of the two best pound for pound boxers at the time Whitaker made Chavez look like a mere mortal. Advantage Mayweather.
    Right now Chavez seemes to have a narrow lead with Mayweather hot on his trail. If this was a golf tournement Chavez is in the clubhouse with the lead but Mayweather with a few holes to go is not far behind and can easily take the lead from Chavez.

    Mayweather has fought no one as good as a prime Whitaker, Taylor or DLH. Imo, he hasn't faced anyone as good as a prime Tszyu or Frankie Randall either.

    Otherwise their resumes are fairly similar give or take a little.

    Castillo = Ramirez
    Corrales = Rosario
    Judah = Camacho
    Hatton = Laporte
    DLH = R. Mayweather
    Chavez = Lockridge
    Gatti = Haugen
    Manfredy = Martinez
    Vargas = Lopez
    Hernandez = Smith

    So in sum, Mayweather doesn't have a top tier, whereas CHavez does, making this topic, as of now, finished.

    Not all the comparisons fit, but close enough on most I think.

    Where do you think hindsight is relevant?

    For instance, the fact that Diego Corrales got hyped as being a p4p fighter in Ring Magazine for beating a string of C and B listers shouldn't detract from the fact that even at his best he was in no way better than a Rosario, who wasn't hyped as a p4p'er.

    No I'm on Rosario's side...lol
    Edwin stomp's a mudhole in 90% of PBF's resume., IMO.

    In a head to head matchup I would easily take Mayweather over Chavez by an 8-4 or 9-3 type decision.
