19 years old from Mexico 27-0-1 with 20 KO's The draw came three years ago when he was 16ish. He outpointed Larry Mosley late last year and already has three stoppages in three fights this year against a combined record of 52-5-4. How good is this kid? Can he be the badly needed next great Mexican super star? Two victories over Miguel Vasquez who just easily beat Prescott (who KO'd Kahn in 1) despite the BS SD due to Dave Moretti's suspect judging. Vasquez looked like a helluva fighter the way he handled Prescott. Who is this kid and how good is he? The three opponents he got already this year, for 19, he is one to watch.
By Alexey Sukachev Russian welterweight Marat Khuzeev (18-4-1, 7 KOs) is planning a high game on August 8, when he takes on 19-year old unbeaten 147lb sensation Saul Alvarez (27-0-1, 20 KOs) from Juancatlan, Mexico. The fight between the WBC #4 and WBO #5 Alvarez and 28-year old Khuzeev is scheduled for ten rounds, billed for the vacant WBC Youth title and will be held at Auditorio Benito Juarez in Zapopan, Mexico. As we know, Alvarez has already chosen to fight Carlos Leonardo Herrera in September. With all due respect to this talented fighter, Saul is looking way past Marat, and thats not the wisest decision on his behalf. He better be ready for a tough test this coming Saturday and I dont think he will be able to pass it smoothly, reflected Khuzeevs manager Oleg Bogdanov. We watched Alvarezs fights recently and, though he is tough and strong, he lacks some seasoning and he is too raw in technical department. I hope Marat will capitalize on that. We are planning for a sound upset. Dont blink! Saul Alvarez is already 4-0, 4 KOs, this year, having won and thrice defended the NABF belt in the welterweight class. Khuzeev scored an easy second-round TKO over journeyman Patricio Chikokolo this July in Klimovsk.
Exciting prospect probably the best Mexican prospect at welterweight. I hope he works more on his hand speed.
This kid should get morer exposure. He is hidden gem in Mexico. Only avid boxing fans pay attention to him.
I haven't really seen him fight, only a couple highlights but I hear this guy is no joke for Mexico. I hope he gets more exposure though
