what i mean is that its not so much Hopkins waking up but rather Taylor getting worse as the fight progresses. The opportunity to wake up was never there until it was too late.

Taylor could not press Hopkins without risking too much. Hopkins is more fundamentally sound. Hopkins could not press Taylor because of Taylor's youth and speed. Hopkins would have been playing into Taylor's advantages.

As an aging person that has started to miss my old abilities, I know where I'm coming from. I've noticed Hopkins remained quick for a fighter of his age, but his speed comes with some noticeable effort. Taylor can just relax and let his hands go to achieve a similar effect.

I just scored it in my head, and I had Taylor winning by a point or maybe two. There was no robbery here. Bernard left things too late.

    Same here.

Taylor got at least a draw IMO. Hopkins simply didn't do enough.

I can't remember how I scored it but Taylor managed to edge all those early rounds, Hopkins had got in a bad habit of doing very little and Taylor's speed, youth and control of range exasbated this, before Hopkins came to life. It was probably 7-5 either way though

I wonder if BHOPs was struggling to make weight for these 2, he had a new lease of life at 175 and seemed 2-3years younger being far fresher than he was from Allen3-Taylor

B-Hop was 168 and Taylor 171 at the fight time...can't say if they struggled very much to make 160...

Hopkins never even struggled with the Taylor rematch when making the weight. I have a interview with him leading up to the fight which he clearly stated he makes the weight easy. Putting on 8lbs between the weigh-in and fight night is about right for a fighter comfortably making the weight. Thats around Hopkins's walk around weight.

Bernard is a bit of a ***** and a nasty guy but I sure feel he was robbed of his title in the first Taylor fight. Simply my opinion ...

Robbed? So he won the fight clearly and widely, yet never got the decision?

Not robbed but you can give a decent argument that he hasnt lost since Jones Jr in '93

I think he was robbed even though I did not say it till now ... Taylor was being hyped as the next big thing ... to see a long time title holder lose his belt inb a fight where he was never hurt, hurt the other guy a few times and came on strong when the other guy faded to me is a robbery ... However, Hopkins has been such a ***** I have not lost sleep over it ..

For someone who calls himself the sweet scientist you sure as hell don't have a clue about boxing

"Why should anyone want to see this again?" -Larry Merchant
"Because someone who actually understands boxing would appreciate this"
-Roy Jones Junior, commentary round 12 Taylor vs Hopkins 2

"Boxing is like Jazz, the better it is the less people appreciate it"
    -George Foreman
