I don't read the Brit forum, so you could be right and I might have been swayed by a vocal few that I recognized.

i dont think its a terrible idea

amir has no fan base in the US right now, but he could start building one since he trains in socal where a lot of the nation's fight scene resides... that or vegas

that would also mean he fights american comp which means a greater chance he's gonna get his head taken off at some point

the truth is that Khan has the boxing fans interested in what he's doing, and that pays the bills. And its not just the brit fans

He isnt an arab. Comparing his background (pakistan) to Hamed (Yemen) is like comparing an american to a brazilian. Its 3000 miles from the capital of one country to the other.

Americans don't watch boxing. Americans are afraid of Arabs, or even people who look like Arabs.

Too early to tell. He needs to have a few wins against very good prize fighters. The huge fanbase he's talking about here is probably mostly Freddie Roach fans.

I can't see Khan putting up the actual performances to get himself anything resembling legitimate stardom. Not against the right competition - definately not, and not in terms of the aesthetics of boxing. Khan can piston punch as fast as a jackhammer; but his weapons arsenal, flexibility, and overall artistry are somewhat crap. He'll also have no choice but to play safety first from here on out. Not sexy. Insulting, to some.

Of Coarse Khan "can" become a star in the US. With smart, aggressive promotion anyone can become a star. I imagine with clever matchmaking and the backing of HBO, he can potentially become a marquee name in a years time. A fight against Salita in front of a packed MSG crowd would be good first step for him.

Well he's right about us wanting to see him fight. If he's got talent then I want to be given the option to watch him. I'm interested in the sport, not the patriotism.

Oh yes he can make it big . . . why not. If he keeps proving his detractors wrong he'll be big.

Americans are especially afraid of Hawaiians.
