His speed is great and it worked on Kotelnik but most fighters are not like Kotelnik, most top fighters will try to walk him down to put pressure on him as that seems to be the key to beating Khan.

It will be difficult for him winning off the back foot everytime. For one fight he did what he had to do to get the W against Kotlenik but doing that every time against more dangerous fighters will be tougher. And I think it takes more out of him fighting on the back foot then it will his opponnet who is on the front foot stalking and appyling the pressure.

Most of what Khan threw against Kotelnik looked flashy but mainly hit arms and gloves. I can't have been the only person in the MEN getting annoyed at the crowd going into raptures every time Khan threw a completely ineffective flurry.

He also got caught flush a few times and shipped a lot of bodyshots, against a supposed plodder. Although he looked impressive on the night and IMO put on his best performance yet he's still a disaster waiting to happen.

Yes I know what you mean what you described there is a amteur style stealing a fight with qucik ineefective flurrys that do little damage or even connect cleanly but just cacth the judges eye and wins the round. But really you want to see a fighter landing cleanly and properly and showing he can fight for real.

How do we know he won't be able to handle pressure fighters? his only loss was after 54 seconds to wild looping punchers, got tired in the last 3 rounds against Kolt, only second time he has had to go 12 rounds.

That's what I thought at the time - amateur. Much has been made of his head movement and supposed bobbing and weaving in the 8th. For the rest of the fight though it was none existent. It was just straight up, in - bang, bang, bang, bang - out. No head or lateral movement, all straight lines.

In the end it was effective mainly IMO because Kotelnik got tired chasing him. Put him in with a fighter who's not too worried about taking one to land one and who will not stop coming forward for 12 rounds and he's going to struggle massively.

Khan's stamina can only improve, as he had to be very busy in that fight to make sure he kept Kotelnik off him. He'll throw less in the future but be more balanced without expending energy, and his power will grow. He could punch a lot like Manny but if his opponent were to hit back, he'd have less of a chance of taking it like Manny can, so he'll be much more defensive.

I definitely think if he went back up against Prescott he'd beat him, but he'd probably have to be even busier than his fight with Kotelnik. Saying that, he could always just wait until Prescott tires around 3 rounds in after trying to score the knockout then go to work on him. Prescott is very easy to hit after he's flurried out.

Khan broke willie Limonds jaw, so those punches can hurt. He isnt the finished article yet but that was a very mature performance against Kotelnik. Khan may face more punches from other fighters but he will also get more opportunity to land a few
He literally ran rings around Kotelnik all night showing great endurance and fitness. I think people often forget he is just 22 and still learning

Again these new posters are taking sense, good posts :good

From this fight Khan will learn so much. Him and Dr.Roach will sit down and go though the tape of this 12 round fight and pick out areas they need to work on and improve. Khan with time will gain a balance of defence and offence and use his workrate to better effect. Remember this was only his 3rd camp with Dr.Roach has already we are seeing improvements and changes in style and mind set.

It's only been 9 months with Dr, give them at least another 18 months then with time and fights we will see a fighter ready to take on best fighters around his weight. Dr.Roach has already changed his mind about who should Khan fight next after his great controlled display and schooling of Kotelnik. Dr.Roach said Khan will be ready for Mediana sooner than people expect.

I think Roach should keep an eye on the winner of Diaz-Malignaggi.... they would be ideal for Amir as he's chin has obviously improved going up in weight, Diaz or Mlignaggi don't hit that hard and they're not much of a level above Kotelnik.

I still think Hatton is Khan's ideal opponent though.... he is the biggest name out there that Khan has the best chance of winning against, while also learning alot in the process and making alot of money.

Khan will be able to handle pressure fighters once he becomes more accustomed to this new style roach has made him adopt. That is why I think it would be sensible to put him in with less dangerous opponents now to iron out any kinks before stepping upto the plate against the top tier fighters in the division.

Not the finished article. Will DEFO improve as he has shown in each fight with Roach. Some of these so-called pressure fighters dont have the same tight defence as Kotelnik and will get caught far easier by Khan, these punches will accumulate and damage will be done. I doubt very much Freddie Roach would be wasting his time with just a mere shoeshine puncher unless he saw something decent there.
