It certainly wasn't a classic in terms of excitement!!
Seems as though Khan and his camp are more than a little concerned about his chin and so the gameplan appears to be focused on using his speed to get in and out without getting tagged. Nothing wrong with that - he won the title after all - but it's not exactly edge of your seat stuff.

i'm not sure how khan could have won and made the fight more exciting at the same time. how anyone can have a go at him for that?

Some boxer's just have to be that way. You can't expect someone with a suspect chin is gonna slug it out for 12 rounds. It'll only become a trade off if he becomes careless.

True what people like rooq and lolspud have written but I never paid to watch Johnny Nelson fight as to me he was as boring as trainspotting and I will not pay to watch Khan running around the ring and those crappy Sky commentators bigging up everything he does even though most the punches are just landing on the gloves.

TBH the only fighters I would pay to watch since the 1980s would be prime Tyson, Naz, Graham, Benn, Haye and maybe a handful of others who will entertain. For what Sky charge you could hire those dodgy/ugly/mong ringcard girls Mick Henessay has on his shows for a few hours and have more entertainment than what Khan will provide.

amir was just following roach's plan, freddy knows what amir can/cant do, so that was the best he can do to assure a win. If amir had knock out power, then we would have seen something different.

Khan may turn out to be a better actor than Steven Seagal but he wouldn't manage to lay a glove on him......

He didn't have the power to go for the stoppage. Plus he will dodge any opponents that can punch or pose any sort of real threat to him IMO. Boring indeed.

TheUzi - Your high. Anyone could turn out a better actor, and I wont comment on the "laying the glove on him" part

He was following Freddys plan to perfection. If Freddy asked him to trade he would have done that too, so full props to him!

    In a word - yes

Can't blame him though and it's about winning

He was one hell of an exciting fighter before - but Roach is teaching him he can win fights without all the drama

Not so much boring, more tactical and disciplined than the Khan or old. This performance showed maturity IMO.

Just the tactics for that particular match, Kolt has never been down once, has a solid defense so why get caught out trying to stop him, wasn't so gun shy vs Barrera.

Thats the way Khan has to continue to box if he wants to continue fighting at world level. The only thing he has over most other guys in the top 10 is speed, he isnt the srongest out there, not the toughest or the biggest puncher he has to use his speed of hand and foot to compete, i dont expect Amir to trade with anyone at 140.

Saying that i felt most of Khans combination were just for show, he was thowing plenty but not alot was connecting, Kotelnik caught most on his gloves, with more elusive targets Amir will struggle. I was happy that Khan took a couple of hits and didnt get shook up, thats a good sign even if the ukranian isnt the hardest hitter.

It was a bit boring, I'll agree but it was as much Kotelniks's fault. There were maybe one or two flourishes in each round where he came out of his guard and made the effort. Maybe he was just confused as Kahn was basically moving and jabbing really well, and really fast constantly for the first 9/10 rounds. A real achievement, if not the most entertaining thing to watch.
