last night i rewatched holyfeild vs mercer and i have to be honest. i thought mercer won. he delivered hard straight punches that where able to physically bother holyfeild while holyfeild dident pull the trigger as much as a holyfeild fan wish he did. holyfeild was very effective when he swarmed with his hooks but i think that heart murmur was bothering him. i had mercer winning by two rounds.

another interesting thing that i watched was how the entire cast (bert, brian, atlas, moorer) of the ringside for holyfeild where in agreement that holyfeild my have lost the decision in the second lewis fight to make up for the first fight as a draw. thats amazing since the second fight to me dident look like a clear decision for holyfeild and i actually had lewis edging the fight very slightly.

who won the holyfield controversial fights

    fights that I saw recently:

holyfeild-moorer 1 - Holyfield won by 1 point on my card, but I can see it going either way
holyfield-lewis 1 - Holyfield lost clearly, one of the biggest robberies ever
holyfeild-lewis 2 - Holyfield lost clearly but was competitive

The fight with Mercer was close, but I think the knockdown sealed the deal for Evander. Mercer was a good fighter in his time, just very inconsistent. He could look great against some guys and then lose to Jesse Ferguson.

Holyfield/Holmes was no contest. Holmes was in survival mode and was simply outworked, although he had some good moments when he decided to open up and fight.
I though HOlyfield beat Mercer by a small margin.

Moorer deserved the win over Holyfield, by a couple points on my card. He controlled much of the fight with his jab. Lewis deserved both fights, the first 117-111 and the rematch 115-113 on my cards. Holyfield beat Mercer, I think I had it 97-92. The commentators kept talking about Ruiz getting robbed the first time around, but I thought the decision was fair as I had Holyfield narrowly ahead. Ruiz deserved the decision in the rematch (although he was trying to act his way to a DQ win in the 10th). I never bothered to score the rubber match. Everyone said Holyfield deserved it, and I just take them at their word. I have no desire to sit through that bout again.

Holyfield beat Valuev handily on my card.

I also had the rematch with Bowe a draw. I thought that fight could've gone either way.

I have recently watched a Lennox Lewis career set and the Holyfield vs Valuev fight is still fresh in the memory. The others I'd have to re-watch.

    In my opinion....

Holyfield vs Lewis 1 - Was a much closer fight than history remembers. I had Lewis win by two but with two level rounds. Could have easily been a draw just as my compatriot, Larry O'Connoll, scored it.

Holyfield vs Lewis 2 - A lot more one sided than the first fight with Holyfield trying to con the judges for the better part of it. Lewis wins by 4 rounds.

Holyfield vs Valuev - I thought Holyfield won by 3 but the fight was so bad I didn't really care.

my opinion... I've rewatched both fights with Lewis and they are much closer then I originaly thought. I had the first fight for Lewis by 5 rounds to 3, with other rounds as a draw. Still, Lewis should have won. But the second fight is much much closer and far closer to a draw or maybe a Holyfield win than the first one. I gave it 6 round to 5 for Lewis, but some rounds could've gone in Holyfield's favour.
The fight with Valuev is just obscene. The robot couldn't land 10 punches during the whole fight and took the decision. pure robbery. I had Holyfield 119:113

p.s. i can't find the holmes fight. can somebody maybe upload the fight? (if it's not against the forum rules).

So you think Foreman's record (heavyweight champ at 45) has been unofficially broken?

The first Holyfield/Lewis fight was'nt a robbery it was a travesty as Jim Lampley greatly described it after the decision was announced.
