If he wants a big money fight, he could take on Pavlik since he doesn't have a fight scheduled. And if he lost the fight he could just use the excuse that Pavlik was too big for him
Shane is way to small for 160. Shane is 5'9 the most and if he thought Vernon was tall, all he would see are 6'0 and over guys there.
Mosley was too small for 154, so IMO, he is way too small to fight at a top level at 160. Sure, he could beat fighters there, but he should stay where he belongs. Rumor has it he once made a fool of Joppy in sparring back when Joppy was champion before Shane had fought Forrest, but at his age? He should stay put at 147.
This is an interesting thread,Mosley should go to the middlewieght division and add another title in another weght class division, what better way to end a career!?!? I can easily see Shane winning a title at MW,I Believe Shane can whup Felix Sturms ass and easily steal his WBA middleweight championship from him!!!
this isn't an interesting thread for two incontrovertible reasons. 1. Size Wise- Mosley had a handful and then some at 154 with taller fighters like Forrest and Wright. 2. Money Wise- Mosley is in it for the money after his big win against Margarito, no fight at middleweight would make the money that a pacman, or money may fight would at welterweight, not even a fight with pavlik, a guy who size wise, brings the same height discrepency mentioned in the first reason, plus tons more punching power. middleweight is all wrong for sugar shane...he would fight his heart out, but undoubtedly lose to the only fighter he would sensibly want to face at middleweight when he's nearing 40 years old (no offense to the 40's around here, BHOP proved it can be done and many before him), Pavlik. If he were to somehow move up and vanquish Kelly Pavlik for the middleweight title, now that would make his "Sugar" moniker all the more applicable to say the very least...
I would argue that he is looking for a way to maximize his own legacy through big money fights. Pac and Floyd are WINNABLE fights for Mosley that would not only gain him a lot of money, but with victory, it would help him go down as one of the greatest. Those two fights are the key for him.
Don't you have any idea on Molsey's career? In 1999 Mosley jumped from 135 to 147. He fought 8 fights at 147 up to 2002 the last 2 being consecutive loses to Vernon Forrest. 2003 to 2006 he moved up to 154 and had 8 fights where he suffered 2 consecutive loses to Wright. 2007 he went back down to 147 . . . . . . and now you are talking of Mosley fighting at 160? :yikes
