Would Hatton have made the final bell against Floyd if the fight had been at 140?

I never bought into that "147 was not my best weight" crap, he drops so much weight to make 140 that I'm pretty sure he was actually more comfortable not having to make 140. Plus Floyd's not a big WW anyway, it's not as if Floyd was bigger (if he even was) than Hatton.

They both would have weighed the same anyway on the night. It is an invalid excuse considering Ricky is a bigger welterweight than Floyd.

 

Floyd stops Hatton sooner at 140. Cortez made sure that wrestling is not allowed in a boxing ring. Hatton was strong at 147, and he fought a guy in Floyd who was not a legit 147 lbs himself.

 

I dont know how true it si, but the word from hattons camp "AFTER" the Pac fight was that he had a hard time making the weight, which would have weakened him some...I dont believe that, I believe that Hatton just flat out thought that he was going to be able to walk over Pac and eat his shots. But in short..NO pac would have got knockedout no matter the weight.

 

I don't think much would have changed.

I was referring to Hatton dropping a lot of weight. Why would I say Floyd drops a lot of weight when the next thing I said is that Floyd is not a big WW? Not everyone is out to diss Floyd you know.

yes i think he would have made it easily and probably been a lot closer

he was always a hapless fighter at 147lbs and cortez was a nightmare

 

I was going under the assumption that most fans who know of this fight know that it was Hatton making the excuses of 147 not being his best weight. I guess I was wrong.

 

I was arguing with people all day about Floyds weight.

My theory there is that Floyd is trying to come into the JMM fight as low as he can, and then whatever that weight is, that will be the "guessweight". Maybe he's doing it to make it a more legit fight in the eyes of the casual fans (most of the casual fans I talk to just see the fight as a WW vs LW). Just a theory.

 

I still can't believe that people don't believe Cortez did not have an effect on Hattons performance of that fight.

Obviously Cortez had no effect on the result, PBF would win at 140/147 regardless of who was the ref. But Hatton could have lasted for 2 rounds longer if he hadnt lost it in the 6th (or whenever Cortez deducted him that point).

The Pac fight obviously has had an impact on this question, if you asked it before that fight I would bet that the majority would think he could have lasted 12
