the belt wasn't on the line. Would still consider him as a champ? technically he is but as a boxing fan how do you see him.

    not really....
I think that to be a champ at a certain weight you have to fight the guys at that weight, not 2 or 3 pounds less.

Not trying to take anything from pac, the guy is great for boxing.

145lb is perfectly at the WW weight ... 138-139 lb would
be 2 o 3 pounds less than WW limit.

Do you wanna say that Cotto won his title ILLEGALY because his weight
was 146lb and was not AT the proper weight of 147lb :patsch:patsch:patsch :rofl:rofl:rofl

People fight for welter belts weighing in at 145. When you're in a division, you're not supposed under that limit, not right at it. It would be a shame if the belt was on the line.

Dog Im with you on this one I tried to explain this on a thread yesterday and they keep complaining that this fight at the welterweight limit but clearly its not since Cotto cannot come in at 146 or 147. This fight is a catch weight dream fight not a championship fight!

If that's the case, welter must be strictly 147? anything beside that should not be considered welter?

I'd be interested to see if he would defend the title vs Mosley, Williams, Clottey or even Margarito.

    Though it's a catchweight, still it's welter.

Loool that made me laugh man. I agree with you, if the champion cannot come in at limit (147) it shouldn't be a title fight. It's as simple as that, I dont see why people argue this.

Cotto's opponent wasn't forced to fight at any weight below 147. That is the KEY difference.
