I fret to see what the next few years are going to look like....I just happened to look at the "Upcoming" fights and that list is horrible....

Nowadays Zab Judah v Matthew Hatton and Malinaggi v Juan Diaz are the MOST we have to look forward to this summer:-(

Besides Manny and Floyd, there's NO ONE capturing the casual fan...

This should be the time when Promoters, and Fighters alike do everything in their power to make mega fights, BUT what are we getting:

    1. Floyd making excuses about NOT fighting Manny
    2. Juan Ma making excuses about NOT fighting Callabero

**** is really weak right about now, and I've been in LOVE with this sport for over 25 years.:-(

i was thinking of doing a thread along these lines myself..

thank god for the SMW tournament.

severe lack of characters in the sport at the moment now the likes of hatton, oscar, calzaghe etc are done.

there are a few quality fighters but the problem is they could not sell out a phone booth i.e dawson, williams pavlik is the one exception

im keeping an eye on a guy called jamie moore, good fighter cocky **** too.

GREAT post............I LOVE what they're doing @ 168lbs, and of course 147 is kinda stacked, BUT we should be seeing the best fight the best to establish some new stars....

In the past couple of years, as MAJOR figures, we've lost Roy Jones, BHOP, Oscar, Tito, Morales, Barrera, Calzaghe, etc., I mean some REALLY GREAT fighters, and NO ONE in the game, bar Manny Pac and Cotto (who incidentally are fighting each other), nobody in the game has the potential to take their place and make me just want to jump and spend $50 on PPV.

I'm hoping for it bro...........As much as I HATE "Money" Mayweather's attitude, he actually makes you wanna watch him to see if his "genius skill" can be silenced.

Just the fact that 2 of those fights were "postponed" just heightens the recent frustration.

it's just a bad summer. the fall is gonna be bonkers. there can't be huge fights all year round. the super middle weight tourney is one of the best things i've seen happen in the sport ever so that's a good start. people need to get off this boxing is dying bull****, it's gone through times like these before and came out just fine as itwill time and time again.

There's the SMW tournament coming up, Mayweather/Marquez, Pacquiao/Cotto and possible fights between the winners of those two fights meeting up or Mosley taking a fight with either guy. David Haye vs Vitali Klitschko is also coming up. Next year will also see round 2 of the SMW tournament. Vasquez R.Marquez are returning soon, Amir Khan is looking to secure fights with anyone coming off a loss in a major fight, Paul Williams will most likely get a big fight whether at Welter, Jr. Middle or Middle, winner of the SMW tournament will most likely look to unify fighting Bute/Andrade II winner, Adamek going to heavyweight and many more.

The sport is fine and going well, it's just a few injuries that pushed things back.

Mayweather and Pacman would have put the spotlight back in boxing. But the Cotto and Pacman fight just messed that all up. Cotto is going to upset Pacman. We can all thank Top Rank boxing Promotions for putting this fight together. Since both Cotto and Pacman are promoted by top rank all the money goes to Top Rank. It looks like Top Rank is putting together a fight that they want to see rather than a fight the fans want to see.

It's not Top Rank fault mayweather had an injury. Pacquiao was waiting for the marquez-mayweather winner which was supposed to happen this month but got postpone. Pacquiao hasn't fought since may. So he doesn't have time to wait for the winner of mayweather-marquez.

the summer is usually always bad for the most part

minus the Cotto-Margarito fight last July

I believe most of the big fights take place in the fall or spring.
