Was Ricky Hatton a nice guy or a fraud of a person?

I hear split things about Ricky Hatton.

Most agree he was a world class boxer.

But people see him differently as a person.

Was he a peoples champion - a hero to the working class?

    or

Was he a liar and a fraud who just said the right things and conned fans for their money?

I'd be interested to know peoples thoughts.

    Thanks.

    Erm.................

Probably a nice lad who maybe played on the 'one of the lads' image a little too much :yep

Don't think I've read of anyone meeting him and saying he's not a sound lad.

    Somewhere in between these two.
He has a massive ego, loves to talk about himself, invariably in the 3rd person.

Ricky Hatton is no Man City fan,I think that is well established

:-(No. Hatton genuinely thought that he could beat PBF and Pacman and didn't rip anyone off on the way to those fights. The bloke has got an absolutely massive heart and can never be tarnished with the 'protected' brush either, IMO. He's a top bloke and a lot more grounded than others with half of the fame he enjoys. You can't keep accusing people of being 'frauds', mate.

I think he was a nice enough guy.... but the whole 'Man of the People' thing disappeared after the Castillo fight - yet he went further out of his way than previously to try to prove that he was normal.

Getting wankered in swanky bars and stuff - the fact that he was in swanky bars proved that he wasn't hanging with his original group in the first place!

:bloodRemember when Andy Kerr stopped James De Gale from referring to himself in third person? Brilliant. Also, I'm quite laid back so I apologise if I came over strong:patsch:D.
