No clearly not as the WW limit is 147 so therefore @145 the title should be on the line !!!!!!!!

    Nail on the head there.

Otherwise next time somebody will want a catchweight of 141lbs for the WW title.

    :patsch *******s :-(

THE POINT IS THAT COTTO SHOULD COME IN AT WHATEVER WEIGHT CLASS HE FEELS COMFORTABLE, as long as it doesn't exceed the limit of 147.

    That's for the belt.

Cotto is a champ regardless, he just wont be the welterweight champ. At 143 I would say Cotto is still champ. At 145 he gotta put that belt on the line because it will be no different from him being 146-147. The weight issue is just Pac letting Cotto know who calls the shots.

You know that the terms is just to let Cotto know who the boss is. Pac could've been a dick and stuck with 143. 145 will not make a difference. It should be for the belt. WW is between 141-147 anyway.

The original post on the thread clearly stated that the title would not be on the line though. In the old days it was not at all uncommon for guys to have non title fights in between where the title really wasn't on the line. Under the scenarion presented here Manny leaves the ring without a title. Combine that with the fact that Cotto isn't really the welterweight champ and I don't see how you can make an argument for Manny being the champ here.

Cotto and Clottey were both allowed to come in anywhere between the WW limit 141-147.

Now. Having this fight at 145.

    141-145. Not 141-147.

people saying cotto is not a champ at welter is clueless, i don't remember anybody beat him other than cheato..

he's essentially undefeated champ at welter weight and a mere 2 lbs to concede for fighting a former flyweight is not enough reason not to put the title on the line, only haters says otherwise..

Fail. Dont forget who needs who?. Cotto pushed for 145 just to get a fight with Pac. and its in the WW limit.

You really believe that 2 lbs makes a difference??? its all about who dictates the negotiations. Pac fighting Cotto at 147lbs is no different.

The fight being held at 145lbs clearly tells you who needs who. Why would Cotto agree to this if he feels its unfair?

Now why do you think Cotto agreed to this? Maybe he believes that a pound lower than his last fight means nothing? or he's just after the money?

I believe he thinks he can win. which a real fighter who wants to prove something is supposed to do.;)

There is no proof at all that Margarito cheated in the Cotto fight. He lost the title and the championship and hasn't regained it. To do that he would have to rematch shane.

Also the thread starter did not ask whether or not you think the title should be on the line, he simply said that it would not be in this scenario.

So you must rely on Cotto's OWN will that he totally agrees coming to
fight at the weight 145 lb. That is his is signed contract and that was
his own offer for fighting PAC :deal. If he had any objectives against that
he would not signed the contract ... so all of you who just does not
agree with Cotto himself may just lick your own ass and grasp whatever you want.

Contract is signed, agreement is done fight is withing WW limits which is
from 141 lb to 147 lb ... Do you want actually FORCE Cotto to come exactly at 147 lb?
He wants come at 145 lb ... that is his own will .... period.

there's no need for cotto to rematch mosley because the outcome would still be the same, styles make fights and mosley's is no threat to cotto's who differs a lot technically skillwise from a slow moving margo whom i believe really cheated (the proof is on cotto's swollen face)..

my previous post was meant for everybody bitching about cotto not being a champ at welter not the thread starter..
