How does Nikolay Valuev fair against other past HW champions presuming he doesn't try ducking them.

    Valuev vs Lewis
Valuev vs Foreman (Prime and 1994 version)
    Valuev vs Holyfield
    Valuev vs Moorer
    Valuev vs Tyson
    Valuev vs Spinks
    Valuev vs Holmes
    Valuev vs Berbick
    Valuev vs Ali
    Valuev vs Frazier
    Valuev vs Norton
    Valuev vs Patterson
    Valuev vs Ingo
    Valuev vs Marciano
    Valuev vs Walcott
    Valuev vs Charles
    Valuev vs Schemling
    Valuev vs Louis
    Valuev vs Carnera
    Valuev vs Dempsey
    Valuev vs Tunney
    Valuev vs Williard
    Valuev vs Jack Johnson
    Valuev vs Jim Jeffries

I know it's a big list. Do what you feel like I guess, I actually skimmed a few off the list. Just ESB thoughts on this one. I feel some answers could be polarizing and surprising. Would like to know who you think would win and why.

    Valuev vs Lewis.
    He would be destroyed.
Valuev vs Foreman (Prime and 1994 version)
He would lose to both versions
    Valuev vs Holyfield
Well, in my opinion he lost against old holfield, he would be outboxed against the prime Holyfield
    Valuev vs Moorer
Havent seen that much of Moorer, don´t know.
    Valuev vs Tyson
Tyson in his prime? Goodnight Valuev!
    Valuev vs Spinks
Spinks wins in a boring fight.
    Valuev vs Holmes
Oboy, Valuev shouldn´t be mention in the same room as Holmes.
    Valuev vs Berbick
Seen to little of berbick, but What I´ve seen I think Berbick would win in a boring fight.
    Valuev vs Ali
no, no, no! He don´t belong in that ring, not in the same arena. TIMBER! Ali, easy way of living!
    Valuev vs Frazier
Wham bam thank you mam! Valuev to slow, Frazier takes it by knockout.
    Valuev vs Norton.
    Norton takes it.
    Valuev vs Patterson.
Patterson takes it, Valuev aint no Liston.
    Valuev vs Ingo
Hmm, I´m sorry to say but I think Valuev have a chance here. But Ingo takes it on points.
    Valuev vs Marciano
    Goodnight again Valuev
    Valuev vs Walcott
    Walcott wins easy.
    Valuev vs Charles.
    Same here Charles to fast.
    Valuev vs Schemling.
Have only seen Schmeling against Louis, can´t say.
    Valuev vs Louis
Louis send him out like a human rocket
    Valuev vs Dempsey.
Dempsey takes him out with a couple of body punches
    Valuev vs Carnera.
    it´s a draw!
    Valuev vs Dempsey.
    look above
    Valuev vs Tunney.
    Tunney wins on points
    Valuev vs Williard.
I think Valuev takes this one.
    Valuev vs Jack Johnson.
Valuev, it´s time to fly again.
    Valuev vs Jim Jeffries.
haven´t seen that much of jeffries, can´t say.

I know I have been very hard on Valuev now, but honestly I can´t see him as one that can compete with some of these legends. he´s big but that´s it.
probably a lot of people gonna try to corner me know, but i have to try to bob and weave.:bbb
    Cheers

LoL, you're not hard on Valuev. I'm really curious how people will make their picks. I agree with most of yours. Funny enough you seem to pick Valuev just against the big sized guys of the past. Personally I think Williard beats him. Carnera probably too. But Valuev is such a huge sized guy that I know this sort of topic can generate a lot of varied responses for different reasons. I wonder how far will people go in thinking a fighter that gives 120+ pounds and 1 foot in height can do. It's very interesting to consider the possible reactions/thoughts. I'm curious...

At this stage I don't think I would be able to pick him over any of them.

Tyson ko's him now (if he would be in any kind of shape:) ), holyfield already beat him with ease. and him matching others ain't even worth mentioning. a fight with carnera would be a good matchup though:))

Nor I. I honestly felt that a 45 year old inactive Holyfield deserved the nod, or if nothing else was worthy of a draw. Rulan Chagaev beat him as well, and frankly I'm not even sure that he deserved the nod in the first Ruiz fight. Valuev's size might make him a difficult opponent to knockout, but I don't see him beating any champion who's quailty ranges anywhere from half-way decent to great.

I agree with the most of this, and to add, i think Moorer might beat him as well, he can counter well and a bit of decent movement and a southpaw guard might mean that Valuev's jab isn't too much of a problem.

He certainly has that size advantage over Ingo and Schmeling, but for different reasons, them two opponents posess two of the greatest right hands in heavyweigh history. Who knows?

The choices are between Valuev being eitherbrutally KO'd late in the match by the guys on the list with overwhelming punching power (he lasts a while because of his size and chin) or being widely outboxed by the guys on the list without overwhelming punching power

Valuev loses to every single one of them (the ones you listed).

He lost to Holyfield, Chagaev, Ruiz and Donald in my opinion and struggled to beat Bergeron. Even McCline was outboxing him until breaking his ankle.

Alright. Thread definitely didn't go the way I thought it would. I thought some would succumb to the thought that a fighter would be too large for past champions and would overwhelm. I guess the only time I can see this happening is against Patterson with his durability. But I could easily see him winning a decision.

The Holyfield fight knocked his currency to rock bottom.

Before that he would have got a lot more suport in this thread.

Agreed but I've always viewed him as a sideshow attraction/circus act. I don't think he should've ever gotten past Ruiz and Donald.

He is bigger than almost any other boxer in history, has a granite chin, a decent jab and good stamina for a big man. That's about all I can say about him.

Valuev's underrated to a small degree. Some look at him as everything that's "wrong" with the current HW scene.. Size over skill, uninteresting/bland fighter... So on and so forth.

Really, he's got more then one very solid skill. Great chin, ultra long jab. He always comes into fights in shape and can fight for 12 rounds.

Donald, Holyfield and Ruiz all attempted to outbox him. Bit of a weak part of his game, he's very slow of foot and can't adapt.

Valuev would lose to all of them...in my opinion.
