    Come on what?

Freddie admitted himself afterwards that he had a lot to work on with Amir Khan, if thats what you are come-oning about.

Listen, I backed Amir Khan when he got KO'd by prescott much against public opinion on this forum at the time, its all in my archive.

However, I dont see Amir Khan making the progress I thought he would by now especially with the training/sparring he gets over there.
Why that is? I dont truly know. Khan beat poor champion(his own words) by running, throwing 'dont hit me punches' & getting a cosy hometown decision.
Its as simple as that IMNSHO.

& the posters in here who thought they witnessed greatness? Too easily swayed by SKY's commentary team, & probably WANTING to be told they witnessed something special.
    Thats my take on it.

I hold no grudges against Khn, well done to him for winning a world belt. Just dont expect me to say I was impressed with the whole circus, cos I wasnt.
If that makes me a bad guy? So be it.

It was far from an exciting fight, although I enjoyed for two reasons:

    1. With Khan there is always the possibility at any time of him being flattened due to his vulnerability.

    2. I like pure boxing. Not every fight has to be a toe-to-toe war, and this fight showcased Khan's talents as a boxer.

I may not watch it again in the near future, but the thing that got me the most is that you compared that complete ****-fest of a UFC main event to the Khan fight and even went as far to say that it was better!

I have to say it bored my arse off. Not many effective punches, not much variety, and every round the same. But unfortunately boring is what he will have to do if he wants to compete at the top.

Same for me. Every Khan fight has me on edge - you just never know when it'll be all over. For this reason I'll always tune in for his fights, but like Kosaros said, the Kotelnik fight is probably not one i'll be watching replays of.

    G

ps. IMO - i think the Gomez fight was probably the most exciting he's had (i've watched it countless times)

No probs, & thanks for an honest answer.

My UFC comments? I can explain that. At the end of the day I watched a fight in a friends house who had paid for the Khan fight, & of course I threw a few quid in for the pleasure of his hospitality. He didnt ask, but its only right if someone pays for a fight & you turn up at his house to watch, you give the guy a few quid.
So I paid money. My pal paid money. We all paid money to watch a godawful card, Hall v Small exempted. I enjoyed that one.

Anyway, the main event happens, the hometown fighter runs, hardly throws a hurtful punch the whole fight against a non-puncher who walked after Khan pretending to be interested.
The result? Khan walks away with the other guys belt, in a PPV main event where not a single good shot was landed the whole fight by either fighter. I would have to say its one of the worst world title fights I have ever seen, both men took nothing, & neither had a scratch on them at the end.
Now compare that to the Lesnar fight, it may have been boring but punches were still landing, & THATS what Im talking about.

Boxings getting in such a state nowadays that guys like Khan can win world titles without landing a hurtful punch, & entertainment wise its slowly killing the sport.
People pay to watch boxing cos they want to see a fight, its as simple as that. & when boxers arent fighting anymore & winning fights by tapping their way to victory just like the amateurs, UFC is going to steal the fans away. Its hppening already, & my lesnar point was simply that.

You let any neutral sit & watch the Khan fight, compare it to the Lesnar fight, they will both say that they werent great fights, but the UFC fight came out on top cos at least it was a fight, unlike the boxing match, which simply wasnt.

I know its hurtful to read for some, & its hurtful for me to post it. I had to say my piece though, cos boxing is in dire straits at the moment & Khan being a PPV attraction when he wont even engage is bad for the sport.

I dont mind talking up a fighter when he boxes his way to victory, but Khan? Hes not boxing, hes running. & people may forgive him as hes protecting his chin, but its PPV main events like that that are killing our sport.

Hmm I'm not sure I agree with you there Dunky if anything Kotelnik's plan was more negative than Khans. It takes two to tango and he wasn't exactly jumping out of his skin trying to take the fight to Khan was he.

Lets remember plenty of people had picked Khan to get KO'd again.

He won the title fair and square nothing to do with being the homefighter.

As for Lesnar that was just trashy entertainment big ****ing brute pins down smaller man on the floor and smashes his head in... great. Or 'man' 'Dickhead' Dan Hendo hits unconscious man while his head is on the canvas, very skillful..

Although I understand that a few **** heads looking for a quick fix may get more out of that than a boxing match.

Now that was a nice post until you slipped in the words boxing lesson' at the end, cos theres no way Khan handed out a boxing lesson. Small handed out a boxing lesson on the undercard, that was the only boxing lesson I witnessed that night.

See? Thats whats getting me here. Khan running & tapping his way to victory aint no boxing lesson. If I want to see fights like that, I can watch the amateurs.
Theres boxing, & theres running. I put Khans most recent performance into the latter category, & thats why Im talking about it in this particular thread.
The question was asked, & Im just giving an honest answer.
