Ortiz for me, too savvy for Alexis.
Carlos had it all ,if he comes in in top shape he takes a decision ,his craft keeps him one step ahead of the slow footed Arguello, but he would have to be at his very best.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Are you sure these came out of a hat?
As you know I'm a big fan of Ortiz, but I'm also a big fan of Arguello. I've just got a feel that at lightweight Carlos' strength prevails but he's got to box clever to take a close decision over Alexis. No knockdowns.

I think I agree with what has been said thus far. Ortiz's strength and versatility would see him get the better of Arguello. Alexis would always be in a fight of that nature due to his power and body punching skills, though.

Yeah, I must say, that despite how I was a fan of Arguello, Carlos Ortiz takes this one...Ortiz was one of the most savvy, shrewd boxers of all time. My estimation of him keeps growing. Ortiz W15 Arguello...not a close one, but no knockdowns..just a mastrtclass by Ortiz.

I'll have to say Ortiz outworks Alexis on this one. Tough fight all the way. But the "Explosive thin man" does get a knockdown late. Ortiz by UD over 15.

Ortiz W15. Just a little too well rounded for Alexis. Ortiz' abillity to take Arguello's punch, his strength, and superior mobillity would carry him through. I'd say 9-6 or 10-5.

Nice bout. Will have some drama I think. Ortiz is going to get the best of it for the most part, but when Alexis lands on him, who knows what might happen. Ortiz has never faced a puncher like Alexis and he has been stunned from time to time by lesser hitters.

I think Ortiz will ruffle Alexis up, grapple with him, land repeatedly with the jab and push Alexis back and along the ropes and tee off on him with right hands, but Alexis will remain true to the task and in the last third of the fight start landing with increasing frequency, shifting the momentum his way. In the last round I can see Arguello going all out and nailing Ortiz repeatedly, with Carlos having the good sense to hang on to Arguello when he gets hurt, surviving to take a 9-6 type decision.

Ortiz wins a very, very close decision. His ability to change up between fighting and boxing would cause Arguello problems.

I think Arguello would come on strong at the end but Ortiz's versatility and durability would bring him through.

    WHAT A FIGHT!!!!!!
