all that is true BUT cotto is a potent pressure fighter but not a true one punch bomber. but top 20? definitely
i honestly think hagler, chuvalo and maybe lamotta are the only ones who can compete with ali. look at the fighters they took on, especially the first two. lamotta was hurt though occasionally and i'm struggling to think of many fighters outside of robinson, irish bob murphy and bummy davis (i think they fought...) that could bang.
****, i forgot about chavez again. and that ****er fought a LOT of cats. good call. edwin rosario, ramirez, oscar, Kosta (way past prime), etc. he fought punchers. the thing is people can say mccall, but can they name REAL bangers he fought? ali fought probably the best selection of punchers ever. the downside is he was knocked down by cooper and doug jones
morales maybe. calzaghe-not a hope. his resume lists no real punchers, at least none he fought in their prime
all time though? eubank fought benn but was knocked down by CALZAGHE. past prime or not it was CALZAGHE. McClellan had the makings of a great chin...tragically like Ali it was his toughness that hurt him most
I like Chuvalo for this one... that's alot of murderous punchers that he faced without ever leaving his feat. To add some retroactive credence to his chin, the man is still sharp as a tack and a great interview. That's one solid noggin. Looking at his record... fun fact: his "pro debut" was 4 fights in 1 day in a "HW Novice" tournament. 2 months later, he had his first proper pro fight against 30-7 Johnny Arthur who was fresh off going the distance with Willie Pastrono (!!!). How's that for jumping in the deep end? (Chuvalo won an 8rd UD)
The Calzaghe knockdown was a combination of Calzaghe actually having decent power then (22-0, 21KOs I believe going into the Eubank fight, he was no Julian Jackson but he had very respectable power) and Eubank being off-balance, going backwards. It was a geniune knockdown, but he was not hurt by the shot at all and was up at the count of two on very steady legs.
