Seriously, I don't understand some people here. After he beats a weak champion with no power, his chin becomes granite. Then his handspeed becomes better than Pacquiaos huh), gets compared to all-time greats, and I don't know what else. Why is this? He got knocked the f*ck out Prescott, beat Barrera in a very contreversial decision and now he became champion for beating Kotenik, a very weak champion with no power. How does this make him so great? Let's see what happens when they put him in a fight with someone with power, at least a decent challenger/champion. One single match (with a weak opponent), can't define a great champion like you guys make him.
That is my point. At one point people hate him, then he beats a weak champion and he becomes the greatest.
I pretty much agree with all of this, he's really done nothing in my eyes to make him special and beat the "worst champion" in his division to quote him. However I'm a little confused as he seems to be the most despised boxer on this forum and the only people bigging him up seem to be about 5 or 6 guys who post in every thread whilst 99% on forum seem to think he's ****.
American trainer Freddie Roach, who oversees both Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, has compared the two fighters - insisting that Khan is faster than Pacquiao, and has greater handspeed. “Amir is a great athlete - his ability to pick up and learn quickly is what really sets him apart,” Roach told a select group of boxing writers in the UK on Wednesday. “He’s very eager to improve - I had him in front of Pacquiao in the gym for his physical and mental confidence and he needs to be thinking of being on the same level as Manny one day if he wants to achieve his career goals.” “He holds his own with Manny in sparring for three rounds, and if he can do that with Manny, he can do it with anyone in the world [around his weight limit]. He’s also the only person who can keep up with Pacquiao running. His speed is his asset, he has faster handspeed than Manny, and a fantastic jab, and like Manny, has the right style to beat Barrera.” Let’s hope Roach’s confidence rubs off on Khan - both mentally and physically - on Saturday night. This is surely going to be a test not only of Khan’s physical ability, but his opportunity to show that mentally, he can think his way through an opponent who is coming to the end, but has been tried and tested in every ring capacity imaginable. Well, maybe I only saw those 5 or 6 guys bigging him because I'm not in this forum a lot as I'm very busy but what I read about him so far was that he became great.
Sarcasm, man. Wind ups. Everyone knows the deal: chinny but skilled, has rebounded well, looked good against a B fighter, is still young with alot to prove and a flaw that could haunt him the whole way. Deal #2: this is ESB so expect people to dick around with the obvious.
No1 said he is greatest they are just make fun of him while comparing him with greats its ESB after all
Haters still outnumber huggers 10 to 1 so start whining about Khan when it's gonna be the other way around. After the Victor Ortiz bandwagon derailed with severly injured passanges who spent their fortune on for ticket to Amir Khan's funeral, Khan worked his ass off and delivered a performace only 2 people out of 10 give proper credit to. Yeah, 2 overrate it but still about 6 fail give a single bit of credit because they're foolishness doesn't allow them. Kotelnik was a legit champ who would've recieved at least a draw vs. Witter on a neutral ground and beat Ortiz nemezis Marcos Maidana before getting outclassed here. Yes, he doesn't have one punch knockout power, but who the hell is talking about granite chin? Nobody. After all the talk how Barrera and Kotelnik will KTFO or school this chinless, amateurish hype job, Khan is still going higher and higher and you guys didn't even had the 1 year Prescott anniversary. :thumbsup
At last someone who knows his boxing. :good **** all you Khan haters, he is here to stay, better get used to it, he is only 22 and WILL IMPROVE.
I like your self hate to see fighters over hyped i.e pavlik, lacy etc... But ive not seen anyone call amir khan an all time great or compare him to one :huh and if they do they are greatly misguided. No one in there right mind would say khan has a granite chin :rofl come on bud you trying to troll here or have i missed something :think Khan has terrible punch resitstance and not even his own mother would say anything different. To be fare cut or no cut barrera was clearly to small and to shot for amir khan now and would have lost that fight cut or no cut. And on his hand speed you got to be a blinder then a mole not to see he clearly has some o the fastest hands in boxing and for a lww his speed is exceptional. Faster then pac i don't know but Roach thinks so and he knows both fighters better then any of us ever will. Im not a great amir khan fan but the kid is obviously talented a silver medalist at what... 17, bounced back in less then a year to win a title a division up. Give the kid his dues a lot fighters wouldn't of come back from the prescott loss let alone win a title a division up in less then a year. He has one major flaw in his chin and sooner or latter he will get sparked again and i have no dobt about that but at least it makes his fights enjoyable. When is it anyone does well for themselves people have to **** on everything they do or over hype them so much other people begin to hate :-( I just don't understand the thread starters agenda is but again i haven't seen anyone make khan out to be a great champion actualy this whole thread is laughable :rofl
