The experts will be proven wrong big time, Pacquiao has a lot of believers because of what he did to Hatton, who fought a horrible fight and De La Hoya 35-36 YO weight drained fighter, but these guys are not Miguel Cotto, in my oppinion the best and hardest hitting WW and in the wrold in his prime, and i hate to use such an old cliche but "styles make fights"!!

I look at Manny like a lesser Zab Judah. Manny is going to have success in the beginning, just like Zab did, but Manny has less power than Zab and I believe he is slower and can't box as good as Zab does, especially when Zab fought Cotto. Manny is going to get hurt plain and simple, and probably to the body.

If there is something that worries me about Cotto, it has to be how healed his cut will be. With Manny being a southpaw accidental headbutts are a big possibility and if Cottos cut opens up then Manny will be all over it like a shark smelling blood.

I was thinking about that too like how do you avoid that, it seems like he gets cut all the time?

I'd say the biggest key to victory is how long Cotto takes to set before throwing his punches. Cotto is excellent technically but a flaw in his punching technique is that he takes a long time to set his feet and get in position before throwing. Manny has a huge speed edge, so if he can capitalize on this he can frustrate and beat Cotto to the punch all night long and then get back out before Cotto throws.

If Cotto realizes this flaw or tries to improve his speed to deal with Manny, then Cotto's chances of winning improve dramatically. (However, Cotto's training is going to be a mess with everything going on with him, especially the distractions from his uncle and such... I'm betting no one inside his camp corrects that).

Also, cuts. Manny is going to cut Cotto, more than likely. You have his ripping punches, and the fact that Manny is a southpaw so heads will collide at some point. If Cotto sports a bad cut like he did against Margo and Clottey, things are going to look very bad for him.

    Cotto wins the "heart" category
Pac wins the "smart fight" category

I agree with you man... "styles make fights" we can't be here saying that PAC is going to win because he looked incredible against DLH and Hatton. The fact is that Cotto is a total different animal and will not be the same. On the other hand you can't analize the fact that Cotto didn't look the same with Clottey and Margo because those two guys bring a total different type of fight than what PAC will bring on Nov 14. In order for Pac to beat Cotto bad he needs to do the same thing as Margo did and PAC would simply not do that. Can you really imagine PAC eating all the punches Margo did in the first half of the fight?

He did the chicken dance and went down on his knees twice. Don't compare Pacquiao to Margarito because Margarito is slow as **** regardless of cement in his gloves.

cotto's gonna need to use that jab and get off first. he cannot wait to counter manny. if he lets manny consistently get off first he's gonna be hitting nothing but air and he's gonna end up chasing that little tornado all night long. he's gonna need to cut off the ring at every possible opportunity and somehow try to pin down pac (which isn't gonna be easy, the guy's slippery as hell) using his style of applying a ton of pressure (which he does well when not facing guys like margo or clottey).

pac, on the other hand, is gonna do what he always does. use that awesome footwork and upper body movement. he's gonna be moving in and out, laterally, slippin, duckin, using every angle. he's gonna be making himself real hard to hit. he needs to be moving constantly and he definitely can't stand in there with cotto and trade (which he absolutely won't) nor can he spend more than 1 second with his back to the ropes. he's not gonna be able to bully cotto like margarito, so he may just sit back and pick his spots and try to go the distance and win on points.

the better conditioned, smarter fighter is going to win this fight. right now, barring a knockout by cotto, i have to pick pac by UD. if miguel can up his conditioning and come into this fight in better shape than ever before, he can win. it's just gonna take a hell of a lot of pressure, energy, and the right gameplan/execution.

good post/thread by the way :thumbsup

you're in for a big surprise, man. manny ain't no zab. give zab some heart, intelligence, stamina, far better movement, and some steroids and you've got yourself manny pacquiao. don't be mistaken, manny is a ****ing beast.
