bob vs hoppa waist of time

Mirovic needs to change his name to Bob "John Ruiz" Mirovic!

 

Bob is now officially over the hill - and at 43 he's fully entitled to be. As Johnny Lewis said, "the Bob of 5 years ago would have won this one easily".

I'll feed Bob some slack that he was trying to wear Hoppa down by wrestling and holding on for a late onslaught - and he got the bonus of extra time for a breather while the continually collapsing turnbuckle was tightened - come on guys can't we assemble a bloody ring correctly!

But to be honest Bob looked timid from the start and it didn't look like he could punch a hole in a rice pudding, even early on. Yeah, Hoppa's powerful, but Bob was terrible.

In the end Bob looked every bit of 43, and you just prayed he wasn't going to leave in an ambulance.

Heaven help what big Ben Edwards would have done to the Bob that turned up in Canberra last night. Probably Hoppa as well.

Now, for fu_k's sake Bob hang-em-up, enough is enough!

 

i think Bob has to be true to himself and say enough is enough and retire before he is drawing ducks on the wall and then trying to feed them!

 

Honestly what did you expect to see ? Even though this fight was for the Australian Heavyweight Title it was just two bums fighting each other with virtually zero boxing skills.

 

Awful boring fight.

I thought at first Bob was trying to tire Hoppa out by tying him up and leaning on him, because he showed a burst of activity in the 3rd that made me sit up and think he'd been foxing being tired and was turning up the heat, but it wasn't to be.

Retire Bob, while you've still got your health intact.

On the flipsde, Hoppa looked gassed from halfway through round 1, (chest heaving, breathign through his mouth) but to give him credit he still had some in the tank in the 10th round. He's still shocking though, doesn't know what a jab is, I suspect he never will. He also looked like a teletubby with his shorts up pver his gut.

Couldn't help feeling, though we haven't seen more than a few minutes of him in the pro ranks, Ben Edwards would beat Hoppa again...and I cringe to think what he would have done to the Bob that turned up in Canberra last night!

 

Although Ben Edwards is heavily focused on his kickboxing, I do see a big future for him in boxing

Totally agree. Should have known the night was going to end up crap when Roy Sio pulled out of the fight with Edwards.

I was so looking forward to this card but again left disappointed. I know the saying goes "Beggars can't be choosers" but I hope Channel 10 really look at the past few weeks and smooth out all the little issues......

Agreed - Edwards looks like one sadistic mofo in the ring eh?

He's only 21 and he's got power and the killer instinct.

If he sticks with boxing he'll be an exciting fighter to look out for.

 

The collapsing turnbuckle wasn't impressive either - surely we can find someone who can assemble a bloody ring!

Overall I reckon the match-making has been pretty good. Certainly compared to some of the crap cards that have been served up over the past few years anyway.

There's no guarantee how the fights will pan out regardless of how good or bad the card might look on paper. It's always going to be hard when guys pull out late too.

 

the ring announcer is appallingly bad- seems to have done little or no research on the fighters.if he announced the officials for the main one more time i would have screamed. darryl beattie is totally unsuited for his roving role. they need to sort this out asap.
