He could very easily lose to Pacquiao and most likely will.

Based on boxing 'attributes' its pretty obvious Pacquiao should actually be favoured, based on physical size and strength that is where Cotto has the upperhand. If he can use it...

Probobly true, but based on form, Pacquiao is strong favourite.

the only place Cotto has the edge is size. Every other attribute, Pac has him beat. Skills, speed, technique, defense, ring generalship, footwork, ...

You name it... Its just the size.

Against Hatton, Roach said Pac ate breakfast before teh weigh-in... he still came in at 138

    lets name it then

based on the fact that cotto actually has some kind of defense that should improve his chances by a lot.... pacman's last 3 opponents have 0 defense.... as opposed to cotto who actually does

only thing that concerns me about cotto is his ability to take a fast punch

torres - cotto - corely all had him in danger

aside from that not much favors pacman respectively

Plenty favours him. Pacquiao's defence will hold up a lot better to Cotto's attacks when vice-versa IMO, considering the relative speed difference which is another thing in Pacquiao's favour.

    Pacquiao has quicker feet, logically.

Pacquiao moves his head a lot more, and has better upper body movement.

To me Pacquiao is a better 12 round fighter at a sustained pace. Cotto likes everything at his own pace, and after a while can be forced backwards as we've seen in 2 of his last 3 fights. Pacquiao may not achieve that as a much smaller man, but it shows Cotto can become tired and distracted.

Pacquiao is mentally in a great place and full of confidence. He hasn't lost for a long time, let alone been knocked out. In Cotto's work you can see glitches of self-doubt, and things have looked really tough against Clottey.

Pac might be too quick for Cotto.

    Question:

What would Pac have done against Josh Clottey?

Cotto has really good counters that will neutralize the speed he can also cut the ring very well and if he can use his size advantage along with cutting the ring like he normaly does i see him winning the fight by late round stopage or S.D. Not to mention Cotto's hand speed is a bit underrated

    Pacquiao's defense? what defense?

my point is if you compare their skills "respectively" which means including size.. a lot of the **** pacman does SHOULD BE canceled out because of cotto's size and ability... which is way greater then pacmans last... ****... anyone pacman has ever fought
pacman would get ****ing bodied against clottey....

    clottey has a chin
clottey is OD bigger than pacman
    clottey has grade A defense
    clottey has hands..

theres no chance really imo that pacman could beat clottey

his jab, handspeed and ring smarts are all being underrated. every one is just blinded by pacs overrated wins over ODLH and Hatton! he is gonna stalk pac all night long. pac is not invisible, he will get hit and get hit hard by cotto! the big question is.....how will pac deal with it. no way he will evade cotto for 3 minutes of every round for 12 rounds without getting hit!

You havn't been watching Pacquiao very carefully if you fail to recognise his footwork and head movement lately. He's made big improvements in that aspect, and the amount Cotto can be hit I certainly don't give him major advantages in that department. Cotto was getting pummeled by Margarito who has extremely slow hands, he's been wobbled throughout his career and Clottey with his sporadic bursts had no trouble locating the target. I wouldn't put Cotto's defence as a major strength, just my opinion.

I think people are going to again underestimate speed. It really does make a huge difference, and I've little doubt Pacquiao has the power to hurt Cotto. I don't think it will last long.

Pac has a lot going on between now and November - 2 movies, an album, and politics. I can easily see him with too much going on and not completely focused on the fight, which could favor Cotto. Also, Morales and Marquez both gave Pac trouble even though Pac was much faster. One attribute they had, which Cotto also has is great timing. Cotto does not need to be as fast, he just needs to time his punches, and he'll connect. If Cotto loses to Pac, there's no shame in that, Pac is a great fighter. I just wouldn't count Cotto out because I think he has a great shot.

There are always reasons why Pac should be beaten by a bigger fighter but in the ring, it seems to not happen...

Pacquiao is one of the few fighters who finds a way to win, no matter what. His mental toughness and will should not be underestimated in this battle. Cotto looked not so sure of himself sometimes.
