Williams would brutalize Clottey he easily outorwork him to UD win. It wouldn't be close like 10-2 or greater.

How the hell would Clottey ever beat him. There's like a 1% chance that Clottey would even win a round. Paul Williams just showed the world that he can destroy the best shell defense out there and it's not like Clottey is active or a puncher. Pointless fight.

I don't recall anything about HBO not funding the fight. PW wouldn't have to chase Clottey. Clottey is the one calling PW out so where is the chasing part?

Even if the promoters are at odds what does that have to do with the fighter (PW) not wanting to fight the other (JC)?

He could of just said that he would fight Clottey but it didn't seem likely because 1. his promoters won't come to an agreement 2. HBO is not putting up enough money...

Instead he says " I don't fight no losers"

For someone who tries to say he's so avoided by all the welterweights, he gets called out by a top 5 WW and says he won't fight him because he's a loser? A loss to Quintana is much more "loser" worthy than a loss's to Margo and Cotto. I've been talking up PW because I think he is the truth and could be the best WW out there but WTF. There is no reason in hell he shouldn't be taking a fight with Clottey other than that he can't make 147 anymore, I can't come up with any other explanation.

Exactly. One win over an ancient Winky doesn't mean you get to call all the shots. Why not go back to welterweight, handle a "name" you have a huge style advantage over, and keep working on the "most avoided" angle?

I feel bad for PW that the Pavlik fight fell through, but it's water under the bridge now.

Clottey doesn't bring **** to the table.

Williams is better off fighting Berto.

For real he is going to get in that shell and look for openings problem is Paul is not going to stop punching and when he does he will be out of range.

after hearing Winky's post fight interview where he spoke of the style trouble and seeing Clotteys performance against Cotto style wise this is not something that intrigues me. I'll take Shane vs P-dub though. And Shane can hurt P-dub.

If your speaking of last November. Then yes it was too late in the year and HBO did not have it in thier budget.

I was pissed by how tentative Clottey was. I actually think getting dropped by that jab had a bigger effect on him mentally than when he got pummelled in the corner during the sixth.

I just think people are being a little shortsighted here. If he were to shut out a guy that Cotto beat on a split, it adds to his claim that he's the best welterweight, way more than inactivity or a fight at 154 will.

Ya know that is a good point though. He can say hey I dominated a guy who almost beat Cotto.

But Clottey is saying that after his promoter went on record saying he will never work with Haymon/Goosen/Paul Williams over the failed Pavlik fight. And he was pissed at Goosen for offering Margo that carrer high pay day to defend the WBO title against Paul, when he was trying to make the Cotto- margo fight.

Id like to see PW vs Shane right now at 147, as PW would be reinstalled by the ring as no 2 and it would be for the ring belt...i think thats the biggest fight possible for him at the moment

I leave it up to you guys to keep me up to date on all the business angles. I can not stand how many good fights get ruined or postponed behind promotional BS. It was bad enough during a good economy, with the well drying up, it's only going to get worse.
