I agree with you. He fought the fighters put in front of him and i personally still to this day believe he would of got rid of Hatton if they fought. I like Junior i never used to in his early days but i started to see a fighter that is fearless and not scared to take on fighters gotta love that attitude.

    All of this.^^^

He could have been promoted better but Hatton's avoiding was detrimental to Witter's career as well. IMO, he would have kicked Rees' ass to next year and should have went all out to push that unification fight. He's far from finished, though.

what more could he have achieved? this is not calzaghe we're talking about, for me witter reached his level for a guy who has a lot of fundamental flaws, doesn't punch like a mule with that style of his ala hamed and no big promotion/pub behind him he did all that could be expected, i do think some people overrate him slightly

If Witter beats Alexander and looks back to his best, then I'd love to see him in with Khan for a unification.

I like him. Think he would've beaten Hatton. (Thats very debateable however)
We'll see how he does against Alexander. Hope he wins, think he'd beat Khan and he does deserve a big payday.

Now as much as twats like Betty **** me off with boring hate filled rants, it was a bit annoying that Witter/Hatton never happened.

If he was 'elite' instead of decent worldclass he'd have beaten Judah no matter the circumstances and wouldnt have slipped up against Bradley.
Or had such trouble with Kotelnik.

Witter was never that good and has ridiculously overachieved throughout his career. Mind you, it merely shows how utterly weak the division was.

I don't think he massively underachieved.

He struggled to get fights for a combination of reasons that have already been mentioned. He could only fight in realistic fights.

As for his performances, he's always a bit hit or miss so I don't believe he underachieved. He beat some okay operators along the way, Kotelnik, N'dou, Harris and Corley. He blew hot and cold so he was always going to lose eventually and that time came against a consistent fighter in Bradley.

Whether he's still got it we'll find out soon.

Dear God! No, he just had the grapes to fight four top ten pound for pounders whilst Witter was fighting Fred Kinuthia at the Donny Dome. But Hatton's the one who lacks the stones, that figures. As for the no smoke and mirrors stuff, remind me who was it that said Juan Lazcano (a top ten fighter) was unacceptable as a comeback opponent then proceeded to comeback himself against Victor Who?go Castro! Looks pretty smoke and mirrors to me. Must be day release at the funny farm today!
