If Hopkins beats Dawson how high is he on the ATG list?

Like it or not, If hopkins was to beat Dawson it would enhance Joe's legacy. With back to back wins over Pavlik and then Dawson Bernard would show that while he may have been past his prime, he still had a lot left and was no where near shot when Joe beat him.

he'll be waaayy up there in my book. i really dont think he can pull it off, but if he does, i'll be ****in amazed.

 

Hopkins can do it if he is at his best.

 

Probably would get him inside the top 30.

 

That would be a remarkable feat by the cagy old vet. Take into account that he'd be 45, coming off over a year of inactivity, and beating a guy so much younger and on a hot streak against real quality LHWs.

I don't know where he rates now as I've never done a list (nor am I qualified), but I'd imagine he's in most peoples top 50-60, so I'd say he'd be somewhere in the top 40 if he beat Dawson.

Since I don't rate Dawson high at all.
Not much more than he already is. Plus Dawson lost the first Johnson fight. Everyone knows that. So unless Johnson has finally gotten old he will lose again. But win the fight.
Yes- I just said it. Johnson is going to get screwed AGAIN. First time it was because they already had a MAGA fight set up with Tarver. This time it is already set up with Hopkins.
The people in power aren't going to lose that money over a fighters record.

 

You can pick big holes in Hopkins wins. All his biggest wins have been against smaller men: De La Hoya, Pavlik, Trinidad.

And the biggest fights where he really needed to pull out something special he fought too defensively and didn't do enough to win: Calzaghe, Taylor x 2.

He also clearly lost to Roy Jones Jr.

Although if he beat Dawson I'd have to give him great respect, Dawson is a big man, has great skills/speed, in his prime etc etc

Its a good question and Id have to see some lists to figure him in. I havent done one in a long time. i would likely move him inside the top 50.

 

Dawson or no Dawson Hopkins is cemented in the top 20 maybe 15 of all time .

Hopkins was an ATG long before Dawson was a world champion , and Dawson is not all that , i dont think BHop takes much away from this fight in terms of credit as Dawson is genuinly over rated , he is just the name at the top of the list thats it !!!!!!

 

I like you do not see the hype in Dawson to be true , but Johnson gassed in this fight and Dawson pulled away and in my eyes was the clear winner come the end !!!!!
