Arum does throw a lot of names out there doesn't he? :D This one seems like it is in SERIOUS negotiations now because HBO wants it. Otherwise Arum and Goosen wouldn't even give each other the time of day if it meant saving the planet.

Kelly was grossly misquoted in the vindy article. This is another reason he wants the winner of the tourney.

For his families sake I hope the same PW doesn't show up that fought Quintana the 1st time. CQ hit him wth every overhand he threw, if that's KP the thin man will be in serious truble. Pw does look good when he can dictate what happens in the ring. When he fights KP he will be the smaller man for the first time, we'll see how he reacts being pushed around. ALl the talk that KP is avergage t everything is crazy (BHop fight aside) He wonn 100 amatuer fights, nationlm championships and mde the Olympic trials at 17-You can't be that average a boxer with that pedigree! Thats not to say that every great amater equates to a good pro, but coupled with his pro accomplishments it does.
KP often makes fights harder than he needs to (Zuniga,Miranda) If he is physical with PW he wins by KO.

I've noticed a few of the recent articles were of the 'muck raking' sort. The writer still pissed about the 'incident' at the softball game?

ahh this is gonna be a good lead up if this is true b/c pwilly's big fans like wwm are good posters imo :good

i will say this...pwilly is gonna get caught flush and get caught flush more than a few times. its not a matter of if but how many times. i agree pav can be wobbled but im not sure pwilly can keep pav off of him. that will be more telling in this fight than whether pwill can take pav's power. bhop hit pav w/ everything but the ringpost and bhop was weighing 180ish on fightnight and pav still didnt stop coming forward.

so my question for you, wwm, is whether pwill can still execute his gameplan under the type of pressure pav will apply?? i agree w/ you its also a question mark whether paul can take pav's punches but i think he'll get pressured more in this fight than he ever has in his career so i wonder how he will react and how that will affect his gameplan. b/c after the beating pav took from bhop, i think its safe to say pav has been hit w/ much more (harder) than pwill is gonna throw so i think its safe to say that pav is gonna be moving forward no matter what paul throws or how much he throws.

Would be an awesome fight. To be honest i just wish Pavlik would get his arse back in the ring with someone of note, at his age and with his entertaining qualities its a shame that he hasn't been matched well of late.

damn I would even buy this one
I want williams to win but pavlik I can see winning it too
if PW wins, I'll be a few dollars richer. I wanna see kirkland back on the scenes and him and PW fight

Want to make up that list of guys at 160 that stood up to KP's punches and made it to the end of the fight? Now if we make the list for 12 round fights........ Pdub is gonna have to show some defensive genius that I haven't seen from him yet. Or a lot more firepower than he displayed against Winky.

In the interview with Loew it was made clear that Pavlik will probably fight twice a year and try to concentrate on top guys. Even if he has an easy fight, the training leading up to one of his fights still takes a toll with all the work outs and sparing. Jack thinks Kelly has quite a few years left in him IF he slows down the pace to 2 a year. That was Jack's take anyhow.

i don't think pwill is just gonna "die" either but i also don't think he will be able to take pav's "best punch" all night long. paul is gonna get hit w/ flush rights more than just occassionally. either way, this is gonna be a helluva lot of fun to watch. and like i said above, if this is true, the lead up on here is gonna be a blast b/c pwill's big backers are good posters.

oh i agree herm. i just also think the pressure pav would apply will be just as important as his power. paul will never have been hit as hard or pressured as much. yeah paul throws a ton of punches but he's never fought someone who will walk through it like pav will.

All that remains is for HBO to put up enough money that Goosen can't make any more excuses....

the reason I kinda favor PW in this matchup is because of his output and activity and also similar to the way hop had the blueprint for tito via the ODLH fight, PW has somewhat of a blueprint
the thing I worry about is PW's punch resistance at that weight
I think that if pavlick can develop a bit more with movement and defense before they fight, he stands a good chance of TKO'ing PW, but thats a big IF

Have you ever watched Pavlik fight? :huh His defense is under rated because he is willing to take shots to give shots if he has to. Watch the Rubio fight again. It was pretty much a sparring session with Kelly working on a few things with his boxing. You think PW outworks Kelly? Both throw a lot of punches without a high connect percentage. This will be a quick war of attrition with the bigger man winning.
