The Scene that is Boxing did a compubox comparison between Roy Jones Jr, Whitaker and Floyd and it was shown that Floyds opponents landed less on Floyd then on either of them

    - Floyd has the lowest connect percentage of any fighter in the game today. And thats an undisputable fact.

    - While Whitaker was downed a couple of times. Floyd has never ever ever EVER been knocked down by a punch. Even the punch that Judah landed on him that made him touch his glove to the canvas was because he stepped on Floyds foot when he through it.

Saying that. I think Whitaker was slightly better defensively in his prime. Since he was so much more versatile offensively an active then Floyd thus left him open more. However, as with Roy Jones, Floyd will be able to fight longer then those two, because Floyds D is based off technique, and not natural ability. Once Pea and roy's natural ability went away, they faded as fighters. Floyd wont have that problem.

However, thats the only fighter I'd place ahead of Floyd. MAYBE Benitez. But thats it. Those that say Hopkins and Toney. **** off out of here.

Floyd has the one of the best defensives ever of course. Nobody is just not that much better than him in any area except Sweat Pea who was mainly unrealistic instincts and agility. Floyd has show agility, great guard and ****ing perfect technique. No other fighter when you slow a clip down and watch the GIF or slow clip frame for frame shows the damn near perfection of this movements. Floyd's defense is why he is undefeated and why judges give him the benefit in a lot of rounds (ODH fight, CASTILLO fight) I guess seeing live up close they can tell a lot of those shots are not landing or not landing on places that count as scoring.

I think you get confused that flashy boxing isn't necessarily the best boxing. Clottey is just as effective with his defense as mayweather. I don't think he gets as much credit though because he isn't flashy with it.

Clottey's a real solid defender, but Mayweather can create offensive through his defense better than Clottey who goes into a shell and fights in spurts. He's much more predictable than Mayweather.

    'Simple'? Yes, sometimes you are.

Floyd has better variety - that is true.

However, the question is not who has more variety, is it?

Floyd has more offensive variety than Duran, but Duran was more effective overall and would smash Floyd to pieces.

By the same token, Floyd has more defensive variety than Hopkins but Hopkins's defence is more effective overall, and thus a better answer to the thread-question.

Through their peaks, Floyd was hit more and hit more cleanly than Hopkins was, no doubt.

And Toney's defence has proven it can hold up to absolutely intense pressure when he is in the ring with men who physically outgun him in every way. Floyd's has never had to because he never puts himself in that position.

Floyd is faster? Maybe he has a slight advantage in foot speed, but Pea definitely had quicker hands.

Bill you should take your little Floyd hat off, and consider the stylistic match-up here.

Foreman would blitz Frazier 100 times out of 100, but I don't think many would say Foreman was a much better heavyweight than Frazier.

Thus, admitting that Pea would outclass Floyd is not an admission that Pea is light years ahead of him (I think he is, but I know many these days do not - unfortunately).

Just like Foreman-Frazier, this is a no contest.

Floyd had trouble with jabs - Pea has one of the very best in history.

If Floyd boxes on the outside, he eats jab and is outboxed by a quicker, slicker technician all night long.

If Floyd tries to fight in the pocket or on the ropes, he meets a vastly superior infighter with faster hands and a better defence.

Floyd may be adaptable, but he can do nothing that Pea can't counter and surpass no matter what tactic he chooses.

On a sidenote, who was the best fighter Floyd ever looked sensational against in his peak years?

He failed to dazzle against his two best opponents: Castillo (both times) and Oscar.

So we are looking at Corrales (weight-drained?), Hatton or Judah.

Who was the best fighter that Pea looked sensational against in his peak years?

His two best opponents: Chavez and Nelson.

And his next best two as well: McGirt and Ramirez.

You continually overrate Floyd. He simply never proved in the ring that he was the fighter you and many others think he was.

moving out of punching range is if youre fast enough and skilled enough and still hit the other guy more than he hits you.

floyd gets labelled because hes the complete package but chooses his fights and the fans feel ripped off from that.

Whittaker defence is overrated, I have watched many of his fights. What he did have was excellent head movement.

He got knocked down multiple times, even Roger knocked him down

The man in your avatar deserves a mention in this contest. His defence may have been simple, but it was damn effective.

Bladerunner is not a Floyd hater. He is a Pac lover. The man is a fat ass, unemployed midget still living in his parents house because he goes to interviews with Twinky cream stuck and unwiped in the corners of his mouth-which is why nobody wants to hire his ass lol...
