    Yeah, me neither.

I remember a dude who got a gift over a shot, corpulent James Toney and then "redeemed" himself against a shotter, corpulenter James Toney. Then had problems with a treadworn McCline and got buzzed early by a Russian grandpapa before being victimized by a rusty Ukrainian and outclassed by a bloated prospect.

Anyway, he's got a "don't-****-this-up" opportunity against ketchup bottle Marcus McGee tonight on the Latin Fury card (not even sure he's being televised).

If Peter somehow loses, that should be it. :hi:

I'll go even further though, and say that if he lets McGee hang around more than three rounds, it's the death knell of his career (or at least realistic title chances).

This isn't a hate thread, even though I'm ragging on him a bit. It's for everybody - haters, conscientious critics, and nuthuggers alike - to post their opinion of what this crossroads fight means for him. Obviously he's going to win - but is that enough? Does he need a 1st or 2nd round KO to make a statement to get back on track? Can he get back on track, in a title aspiration sense, now that three of the top ten (can we even say three of the top five) guys in the division have now beaten him - two very decisively (and one of those having improved tenfold since then)? What kind of wins would he have to string together? Is wasting time on the Marcus McGees of the world instead of say, a Thompson and then Tua-Cameron winner, really to his benefit? I know he may need a confidence builder, but he's dipping awfully low. I think the way he wins tonight is what's important, even if the win itself is not.

^ that was the point of this thread. Sorry if it took a few cheap shots to get there. Can't be helped.

Peter is a decent heavyweight, what seperates him from very good and great ones is his inability to come 100% for every fight. If you can't come 100% for your job then the guy lacks dedication and is better off doing something else. Speaking of that I heard he's coming in decent shape for this one so let's see, Sam is a decent fighter and can give a lot of the active guys decent challenges, right now he's gatekeeper material and still has this last chance to change it.

    Exactly. :good

Will you be writing him off altogether if this goes the distance? I would think you'd have to.

ROMAN GREENBERG took out this trash.

They should've postponed or even cancelled the Latin Fury card after Chavez Jr got hurt. Who the hell is gonna buy this crap?

Antillon-Acosta is ten times the fight Chavez-Houllier is. :deal

Still shouldn't be a PPV, just saying...

Wasn't Antillon vs Acosta already on the card anyway? That is simply not PPV headline material (neither is Chavez Jr but that is another point). Arum has no shame.

Depends how the fight goes, I'll most likely write off his ability to punch.

I'd still love to see this fight, even though Peter will be his usual self; very limited, plodding forward, throwing hail mary's from the rafters.......only this time, in better condition......but the limited and very one dimensional style will still be there.

Sam Peter never was a contender. He went in with wide shots and got lucky with his KOs and he never could KO someone with C-grade level skills.

    Yeah. Great contribution.

The point is, relative to the level of opposition - what type of win does he need to register to show he's serious about mounting a comeback? :readthre: :D
