still doesnt make sense to me. I'll judge fighters after watching a few of there fights. You go ahead and judge them off of a highlight reel. You do you homeboy! :good
Well Pavlik WILL land clean on Williams, the question is how well can Williams take those shots. If those blows don't affect him that much then PW by UD.
That's the point.. I wasn't making a full judgement on him.... if I was then I would probably pick Pavlik.... I may "think" he is overrated, but I'm not sure... which is why I can't pick one.
Pav weighs more. And that's about it. Paul is a legitimate 6'3"... **** what y'all read on HBO. Let the truth be known. And he has a reach of 82". And what makes you think pav is tougher than Petey? Have you seen anything to suggest that?:huh
Pavlik has stood up to far more punishment, is heavier, has a better KO record against tougher opponents and has a proven chin. Williams has none of those things, plus he's stepping up a weight.
This fails to show that Pav is just an all-around tougher guy. Paul aint tough, huh? You sound like the people who say he might get permanently injured in the ring or something. Why? Because he's skinny????
I'm in JP - right on the line actually, between the decent side (if you consider the hippie-dippie artsy-fartsy granola side decent :yep) and the "ok, let's go ahead and roll up the windows and hit those powerlocks" side. :good Paul is definitely a good learner...with his style and output though, it's impossible to never create any countering opportunities...he can't and won't fight like a Mayweather. Can Kelly capitalize on those countering opportunities enough to score? I don't know...but he will also not be waiting for them. As I said, he will pressure Paul as Paul's never been pressured. Pavlik won't mind eating the lion's share of an eight, nine, ten punch combination (and that's even with middleweight being, IMO, Paul's absolute peak in terms of raw power - if Jermain can hurt Kelly I see no reason why Paul can't too, when he throws with conviction and not just to woo judges) to find his target. Technically, you could say anything either guy lands is a counter with all the nonstop leather that's sure to be flying. True, we've never seen Williams badly hurt. And yes, if Paul and Carlos fought ten more times, Carlos would be lucky to land any more of those hook/straight hybrids now that Paul's wise to it (that's assuming Carlos makes it out of the first :yep). However, Pavlik wouldn't be relying on strange angles - he'd bully and punch his way in and hooks will land. And when I think of Quintana's connects turning Paul's head, I can only imagine what will become of a hook with follow-through from Kelly with his feet set should he back Paul into a corner or even against the ropes (which even the substantially smaller Quintana was able to do on occasion...although yes, before Paul went back to the drawing board). The one x-factor here really would seem to be head/upper body movement. If Paul can make Kelly miss as much as he made the generally accurate Winky, he could be in for a good night. The problem is, Wright isn't necessarily a good comparison as Kelly will be firing an automatic where Winky was working with a lock-and-load musket. Sheer law of averages gives Pavlik a better chance of catching Williams - and the fact that his jab is a pretty great set-up weapon.
Er, no. Pavlik is skinny too, in case you hadn't noticed. It's pretty simple: Williams does not have Pavlik's power, and his chin is untested.
People gripe about the Rubio fight. I think the fight turned early in the first round with a punch Pavlik landed. It altered Rubio's game plan the rest of the fight from 'win' to 'survive'. WWM is so hard on the nut that he can't even concieve that Kelly could alter Pdub's game plan, like drawing him into a slug fest.
Indeed. It's not as simple as just "outboxing" someone. If you can't get their respect - or they're just determined - they'll walk you down and force you to trade. When that happens, it's night-night Paul :hi:
what leads you to believe that Paul can't handle a shot from Pavlik? I've seen Pavlik hurt more then I've seen Williams.
Kellys going to bring war, plain and simple. I dont think he is going to lose his belts anytime soon.
Size counts. Power counts. Who have you seen Williams fight that has what Pavlik will bring to this fight? Given Kelly's record of KO's I'd tend to believe he has what it takes to hurt a naturally smaller man. Having seen what Kelly has taken from true power punchers in the past, I don't see where Williams will get his respect.
