Calzaghe wins. Toney's strongsuit wasn't fighting guys who ran in circles throwing 100 punches. I'll assume Calzaghe's chin holds up.

Yeah! Sort of renders the whole thing completely pointless dosen't it?!
Let me guess, that ****ing moron DINAMITA posted a lot anti Calzaghe drivel? What a surprise.

For what its worth (and thats not very much) Calzaghe by a very close decision. He's a bit more versatile and mobile and with better stamina but I can see him being met with good right hands all night long. Really is a tough one.

Toney faught 20 times in 2 Years. and faced far better fighters.

Calzaghe held a minor world title and was only the Man @ Supermiddle after 2005.

Toney is all wrong for Calzaghe his counter straight right, he walk Joe down and bust him up.

This fight wouldnt happen as Calzaghe Prime 4 Prime against any Elite champ would never happen.

same here. the difference is i don't think cal has the power to hurt toney, but those right hands from james can cut up or hurt calzaghe. but who knows

any fighter can get buzzed even the most solid of chins it's about the placement of the shot and with so many shots it's possible that toney could get buzzed. alot of Joes oppents (recent) have said that Joe's punches have left them feeling confused and alittle disoriented but when they were being tagged didn't hurt Joe believe it or not has a very heavy hand even while not punching properly can still mangae to have effect on his opponets . lOOk at b-hop it wasn't his old age making him walk to the next corner it was joe's punches although not having much luster on them they still have an effect. for instance i have this frien real big guy didn't really even punch me that hard in my arm but because his hand was so heavy he actually sent a shock way through my body that actually went up to my head. and it wasn't even a punch thrown it was a tap. some people are jsut heavy handed

while i think everyone will disagree that joe is in any way heavy handed, you bring up a good point. archie moore said this of ali after their fight. Mongoose said he doesn't hit very hard, but so often, so accurately on the top of the head that you are completely disoriented and much more vulnerable to punches than you were before. he's not a knockout puncher, but he gets you on the same place, so many times (also, like salvador sanchez) that you just fall

What? Toney had his biggest wins at 160. At 168, he got shutout by Jones and lost to Montell Griffin. He beat Barkley but I would hardly hold that win on the same level as his Nunn and McCallum victories.

in terms of the opponents no, you're right: 160 has his better resume. but as a boxer and athelete his best performances were at 168. also, so was his most humiliating loss

He had greater power in the nineties and early noughties, but even so I cant see him hurting Toney as he had such a great chin and defence. I can see him getting outsped and outworked however.
Its those right hands that Toney would land which make this such interesting fight.

very true. also lacy, kessler,Rjj, and few other have said this about Joe C that they felt disoriented.

Reasonably close fight but Calzaghe's superior footwork and hand speed wins him a UD.

IMHO it would probably follow a similar pattern as the last couple of Calzaghe fights, with Joe using a similar game plan: work his opponent out, and then out work his opponent.
