NP Jack Dempsey vs Tommy Ryan You know the drill answer and reason/explanation closes in exactly a month
What a wonderful fight this would be. I'd guess at Dempsey. Much more adaptable, sounds two-handed, sounds mobile, sounds like he brings more. For obvious reasons, this is a bit of a stab.
I'll pick Dempsey as well, i think he was a very great middle, as was ryan, but i'll go with mcgrain's analysis of the fight anyway.
McGrain thats the draw. i think most of the fighters who can win ddint get matched up with each other. as i seeded it.
Verry tough call. Both these guys were regarded as technical wizzards in their day. Ryan was probably the harder puncher of the two. Dempsey was probably more highly regarded at middleweight. That is about all we have to go on.
Ryan could be prety tricky himself. I suspect that the rule set is probably the deciding factor here. My vote goes to whoever the ruleset of the fight is closest to the ideal for.
from what i have read i see this as a great boxing match both quick but it seems dempsey was a bit quicker ,ryan hit harder both game and agile .i would go for dempsey`s extra bit of speed to take him to a decision win
Well it is a close call. The Non Pareil held the title for 6 years and it took probably the greatest pound for pound hitter of all time in Fitzsimmons to take his title. Ryan got the title when Fitzsimmons vacated it and he ended up holding it for 8 years until he ended up vacating it. Ryan's 8 years would make him still the longest reigning middleweight champion ever, by my count. When they did meet, Dempsey was old but he was KOd early. I get the feeling that Ryan was a little stronger and more durable and hit that little bit harder. I will guess that it takes him a lot longer but he gets the same KO result as he did when they actually met. Ryan KO15.
Ryan was an all around talent. He could box, punch, take a punch, and he was smart. In many ways Ryan might be the most under rated middle of all time. He was very good. I think Ryan would prove to be too much for Non-Pareil Dempsey.
